~Angst?~

Prompt: "You know, it's okay to cry."

Prompt in depth: Natasha Romanoff was your bestfriend. The Avengers come back from their mission with the new's of the Russian's death. Months have passed and you're still struggling to cope with the news. Not once have you cried, not a single tear has been shed. Tasha wouldn't have wanted you to cry, right? No one seems to have noticed you struggling to cope. No one, except Maria Hill.

Warnings: Mention of death, injuries (blood, bruises, cuts), struggling to cope and killing

Months have gone since the Avengers came back with the news. Natasha had sacrificed herself at Vormir to get the Soul Stone. No one had questioned the countless missions you had gone on, Mission after mission, without a break, unless necessary. You'd come back countless times injured, yet you hadn't gone to see Cho. The pain made you forget. The missions made you forget. The killing if necessary made you forget. Fury hadn't questioned the request to get mission after mission. Every mission possible.

Not once since Natasha had died had a tear been shed. She wouldn't have wanted that, right? Crying made one weak, at least in your mind. You had seen the Avengers cry over their teammates's death. Even Fury had shed some tears, yet the person closest to her hadn't. You were struggling. You didn't cope like the others, you didn't cry. Instead you trained until you were bruised, or physically couldn't anymore. And, the missions. Not to mention them.'

Y/N had just come back from a mission. Littered in bruises. A cut on her chest that was still bleeding, and a GSW to her arm, yet she didn't seem in pain. The pain felt good in a way, made her forget everything. People came rushing over, yet she only headed to her room, like she did after every mission. Y/N treated her own wounds. Cleaning them, stitching them up and bandaging them herself.

Maria had seen her head to her room before, and decided to follow her. She watched Y/N as she stitched herseld up, frowning slightly. Why didn't she just get Cho to do it. Maria knocked once, before stepping inside.

"Hey, you doing ok? I heard you got shot.." Maria looked at the girl, who only responded with a curt nod, and a small 'I'm fine.' It was clear she wasn't. Her body wasn't just littered in new bruises and cuts, but also old once. Maria didn't recognize the girl in front of her. SHe made her way over to Y/'s bed, sitting down next to her.

"You know, it's okay to cry." Maria muttered, earning a confused look from Y/N. What did Maria mean by that? Why would she cry, she certainly didn't have a reason to.

"You haven't cried, since Natasha died, Y/N." So, that's what she meant. Natasha wouldn't want her to cry tho. It made her weak. Weakness can't be tolerated.

"Tasha wouldn't want that. Crying makes you weak." Y/N's voice was raspy. She barely used it anymore unless she spoke to Fury about missions.

"It's normal to cry after losing someone.." Maria muttered, scootcing closer. Hesitantly, she wrapped her arms around Y/N in a hug, being careful with her injured arm. Maria had honestly expected Y/N to pull away or yell at her, but she didn't. Instead, she buried her face in Maria's shoulder. She hadn't been higged, since before Natasha had left for the mission she never returned from.

Y/N could feel the tears well up in her eyes, but she tried to hide it. Despite her body trembling, and muffled noises of her trying to contain her sobs, could be heard. Maria slowly and carefully stroked her back, this seemed like the breaking point. Y/N broke down, tears streaming down her face and onto Maria's shirt, sobs wracking through her body and filling up the room.

"I've got you... Let it all out.."
