A/N: there's no time jump between this and the previous chapter, so for the sake of flow u might wanna read the end of ch 3 to refresh and then start this one

Naomi's gaze landed on his lips. And it lingered there a little too long. She looked  back up to see Declan flushed red, a small, confused smile on his face. He looked away, sliding his hand out from under hers and scratching the back of his neck.

"My room's messy, let me just clean up." He said, getting up.

Naomi could understand why Declan felt like he had to be careful around her at all times, but frankly, she was sick of it. Naomi had always been the most comfortable around him out of the guys, and she wanted him to feel the same way. Unlike how she was with the others, she's never had to adapt her personality in order to match his, as he got along well with even her most unfiltered form. And that was why she'd been subtly crushing on him for the past couple of months.

Well, that was if "subtle" meant her male friends couldn't pick up on it. Lynn, on the other hand, could read her like a book.

Naomi greeted Lynn at her door, letting her in.

"I'm so glad you're here, I have so much to tell you!" Naomi exclaimed.

Lynn took a seat on her couch and pulled her legs up.

"Well, yeah, you're practically glowing. My guess is you either started a new skincare routine or you've got a crush."

Naomi's jaw dropped. In awe, she rushed over to sit next to her.

"How did you know? The guys have no idea, so I thought I was hiding it really well."

"Naomi," Lynn said slowly. "they're guys."

Naomi shook her head. "It's alright, I just don't feel like going home yet so I'll keep you company if that's okay,"

Declan picked up a shirt from the ground. "Cool, do you want to get any work done while you're here?"

Naomi watched him throw it into his closet, then lift his bag off the floor and set it on his desk. It was just the two of them, and they had just had a strong emotional interaction. It was the perfect time, she could tell him how she felt right now if she wanted to.

"Yeah. Do you have anything to do?" She asked.

Tell him.

Declan rolled his head to the side, stretching out his neck. "I haven't started that math assignment yet."

But what if it backfired? What if she embarrasses herself and ruins the friendship?

"The one about vector operations due monday?"

She'd been fighting with herself like this ever since she realised she liked him. And it only got worse when they were alone.

"Yeah."

You're ready.

"Sounds like you still have time, though."

Do it.

"I guess, but I've got basketball all week so I thought I'd get it done early."

Do it.

Naomi placed her hands in her lap,  totally not trying to put it off until she changed her mind.

Do it.

She took in a breath.

"Declan- sorry, its off topic- I feel like there's something we need to talk about." Naomi said.
