"Natasha and I, we're friends.
Well, most of the time.
We've had our ups, we've had our downs
and we've had just about everything in between.
We've had 1 too many drinks,
2 too many times we've argued over nonsense,
3 too many times we've comforted each other in ways that friends don't.
But Natasha and I, we're friends."

You awaken on the couch with Natasha beside you. Her phone alarm's going off. She slowly gets up, yawns and turns the alarm off.
"Sorry." She says softly.
"Aww..." you sit up, all your muscles are very uncomfortable. "Is it time to go back to sucking Stark off?"
At first you wonder why you hurt so bad and then you realise that you fell asleep with your Reaper gear on, which can't be good for you.
"Stark's not my type." Natasha stands up and picks up her jacket, she puts it on and walks over to the mirror. She fixes her hair to the best of her abilities.
"Jealousy is also not my type, Y/N." She smiles.
"Are you calling me jealous?"
"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not." She fixes her lipstick and adjusts her clothing. "Barton'll be on his way to pick me up, but it was nice seeing you."
"Barton, is that your friend?" You ask, walking closer.
"I have a lot of friends now, how the times change, right?" Natasha turns to look at you, smiles and pulls you into a hug.
"Yeah... definitely." You smile half-heartedly. She walks over to the door.
"Call me when you've made a decision. It's important." She walks out, but as she's about to close the door, you grab it and pull it open.

"What are the details, Romanoff?" You ask, she turns to look at you.
"I thought you were always working?" She teases,
"Do you want my help or not?"
"Fine... but don't you want to change?" She asks, looking at your Reaper getup.
"I can't be targeted by Kind Regards or anyone else if all they know is that I'm just another Reaper." You pull the hood up and follow her to Barton's car.

She gets in the passenger side and you get in the back.
Clint looks in his rear view mirror to see you, the shadow of the hood covers your eyes like someone pulled straight from Assassin's Creed.
"Clint Barton, and you?"
"Reaper." You say dryly. Natasha holds back laughter. "Something funny, Natasha?"
"There's 800 Reapers, there's only one you." She turns to look at you.
"And what about all the other Black Widows?"
"Fair enough."

We drive for a fair bit in total silence.
"So..." Clint starts, "How did you convince her?"
"I told you, we talked." Natasha answers.
"Overnight?"
"It takes a long time to talk about these things." Natasha defends herself. Clint's not buying it.
"And you just talked? All night?" Clint pried, you aren't sure if he's joking and so that's when you interrupted.
"What's the threat, then?" They both look at you.
"Stark'll explain it." Natasha says, thankful for your interruption

You enter Avengers Tower, Bruce and Stark are analysing folders. They turn to you.
"It worked?" Bruce asks and walks over. He offers his hand to you. "Bruce Banner." You shake his hand and nod, Tony walks over too and shakes your hand.
"Reaper." You respond.
"Reaper?" Tony repeats.
"Yes, Reaper."
"Well, Reaper, we've got a threat incoming." Tony walks over to a holographic screen, you and everyone else follows. "SHIELD has informed us of several growing power sources supposedly coming from a place called Asgard, are you aware of-"
"Yes." You cut him off.
"Well, Thor, another Avenger, suspects that it's Loki, his brother. SHIELD seems to have confirmed that theory. It's just a matter of when he will attack."
You look over to Natasha,
"I don't see where I come in."
"With the power that SHIELD have estimated, it's stronger than all of us combined." Natasha says.
"And Romanoff says that you're quite strong." Tony looks at you.
"I may be."
"Well," Steve says, "Bruce is setting up a room for you, we'll need you here with us for when he comes down."
"I see." You respond.

"I'll show you where it is." Natasha smiles and starts walking down the hall, you walk beside her. When you're alone...
"I'm glad you said 'yes', we need this. We need you."

Two Years Before

You're on top of Natasha on the kitchen counter, she's laying back and she's partially nude, as are you. She forces herself up and holds your chest.
"I need you." She utters.
You lean into her, pinning her to the counter and-

Present Day

"Are you okay?" Natasha asks, looking at you as she waits by a door.
"I'm fine, I was just thinking of something."
"Did you hear what I said?" She opens the door.
"Which part?" You walk into the room, it's small, single bed and basic furniture.
"I said that I hope we can be friends again."
You look at her, her green eyes are glistening in the light.
"I'd like that."
She smiles at you.
"Well, I'll leave you to get comfortable." She walks out and closes the door behind her.

Instantly, you walk over to the bed and lay on it.
"I preferred the kitchen counter..." you utter to yourself laying on the uncomfortable brick of a bed, you'd think that Stark of all people could invest in a comfier mattress. But the more realistic reason is that he just doesn't care.

Tony watches over a camera, Natasha approaches.
"Tony, are you serious?"
"Look Romanoff, I know she's your friend but I can't take any chances."
"What would she do?" Natasha asks.
"Well, if she's as strong as you say - a lot." Tony responds, "And she said something about a kitchen counter?" Romanoff tilts her head, and then she realises.
"Wait, what did she say?"
"She said 'I preferred the kitchen counter', why? Do you know what she means?" Tony prys.
"I think so." Natasha smirks.

"Well, share it with the class?" Tony turns in his chair, signalling to himself, Steve and Clint.
"Oh, it's nothing special." Natasha plays it off.
"That almost always means that it's something special." Clint smiles.
"Is this an interrogation?"
"Yes." Stark says bluntly. Steve looks confused, "Wait, so what are you implying?"
"I'm not implying anything, Rogers, I'm simply asking Natasha about Reaper."

They look back at the camera to see you kicking your legs and mumbling a song.
"Let's be friends so we can make ou-"
Natasha turns the camera display off .
"Stop spying on my friend."
Tony points at where the screen was,
"Well with what Reaper just said, you're a bit more than friends." Tony and Clint laugh.
"It's a song, dumbass." Natasha walks away. In her head, she just really wishes everyone would ease off, it's complicated. She's not even really sure what it is.
