Briarsong was overwhelmed by the outpour of love from Moonclan as all the Warriors who remembered her came over to touch noses. Appleblaze and his brother Voletail were so much more filled out and mature looking than last time she had seen them. They were handsome Warriors who bore a scar or two from battles she had missed. Cloudpelt and Thistletalon were also coming into their own with scars and thicker frames as they were getting older. Mouseclaw, Littleleaf, and Eveningmist looked relatively the same from the last time she saw them. There were also cats she didn't recognize who hung back and eyed her with puzzlement. Pathcpelt was holding himself differently. He had his shoulders squared, his head held high, his tail a flag high in the air. A large scratch across his muzzle showed where he had survived a great battle and his black and white pelt was sleek.
"Come with me," Dawnstar guided Sully and Briarsong away from the mass and into the quiet of her den.
"A lot as changed," Briarsong whispered. "It's hard to believe I've missed so much. Who is your deputy?"
"Patchpelt is the deputy now," Dawnstar sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws. "He's a very skilled and talented Warrior who had seen it all. He has done a wonderful job so far keeping the clan motivated, planning patrols, and training apprentices."
"What else have I missed?" Briarsong wanted to know everything so she could ease the aching feeling that she didn't belong anymore.
Dawnstar gave a light hearted chuckle. "A lot has happened in the forest that I don't have time to go into great detail about. I will give you a few big highlights from Moonclan though."
"Yes please."
"Runningtail and Pinebrush passed last Leaf-Bare protecting Ivybranch when the Meadowclan stormed the camp and tried to drag her away."Briarsong took a moment of silence for the loss of the last remaining member of her family. "Eveningmist had two more kits, Firekit and Thunderkit who are in the nursery. Snowlight is also in the nursery with her and Cloudpelts' kits Breezekit and Flurrykit. Cloudpelt remains the clans most skilled hunter and keeps us fed even during the hardest of times. His brother Thistletalon isn't quite as skilled a hunter but has a real knack for building. He has done an amazing job with Mouseclaw at fixing up the camp walls. Right now we have seven apprentices, the most we've ever had at one time. A few of them are close to taking their test while a few aren't quite ready."
"Which cats left for Smokeclan?" Briarsong asked.
"Ivybranch told you about Smokeclan?"
"Rosethorn did."
Dawnstar nodded. "Thrushpelt is now Thrushstar of Smokeclan."
"Who exactly is your friend here?" Dawnstar finally looked over at Sully who was anxiously waiting.
"This is Sully." Briarsong introduced the long haired tom. "He is one of the cats I've been living with. He wanted to see Moonclan and everything I've been telling him about."
"Welcome, Sully." Dawnstar smiled but Briarsong didn't miss the suspicious glare. "We are happy to have you here in Moonclan. Thank you for accompanying Briarsong home. While you are here you can sleep in the Elders Den since it is empty at the moment. I will have one of the Warriors show you where to hunt and we will expect you to help feed the clan."
"Of course," Sully nodded and twitched his tail nervously. "Anything I can do."
"So what is your plan for finding and training three new Medicine Cats?" Dawnstar turned back to Briarsong and she could feel the relief from Sully now that the attention wasn't on him.
"My plan is to go to the Seeing Stream with Ivybranch and see what Starclan has to say."
"Hmm," Dawnstar was thinking. "I'm not sure how easy it will be getting through Smokeclan and Mountainclan territory to get to the Seeing Stream. We aren't exactly on friendly terms after they tried to steal Ivybranch to be their Medicine Cat."
