Lots of people are depressed or sad for many different reasons, but this is because of her. He doesn't feel valid, and other people feel like he doesn't have a reason to be upset when he honestly has every reason to be. They don't know his full emotions, and of all people they should be the ones to understand that most humans can't always control their emotions and feelings. He doesn't want to care about her anymore, but while doing that he doesn't want to care about himself. Sometimes it hurts the other person to see him like that but it's ok, at least he knows that the other person cares.
