After not even three months, Aileen had gotten used to the monotone schedule. Get up, dayroom, eat, sleep, repeat. To be perfectly honest, she was getting sick of it. She wanted out. She wanted to take Peter and Zack with her. She planned how she was going to get out. Each night, she would just stare at the ceiling, Zack’s snoring in the background, and she would plan how she would get out of her hell. At times she would tell the two boys what she was thinking. Zack would laugh, but Peter would give her advice.

That night, Aileen was sure she had her plan just right. She was going to tell Peter and Zack how it was going to work out. She just had to wait, and wait, and wait. There was much waiting to be done.

As the morning rolled around, Aileen was the first in the dayroom. She was followed by Peter, who was followed by Zack. They all sat in the usual spot they did, which was the same place where Aileen and Peter met. Right next to the window. Right before Zack was going to say something, he was totally cut off by Aileen. “Alright, I’ve finished my plan. We should be able to get out tonight.” She said, her thick irish accent causing her to slur a bit. Peter cracked a smile, “So, please explain your most elaborate plan.”  Aileen gave him a quick evil eye. She places her hands flat on the table, “This window,” she gestures to the translucent window. “It will be key in our escape.”

“Hold on, our escape?” Zack asked “Yes, you bug. You want out of here too. Now listen.” Aileen pushed her hair out of her face. “The window, if broken leads straight out the back of the hospital. We just have to climb the fence, and we’re free.” Aileen said it as if it were simple.

Both Peter and Zack exchanged looks. Peter said nothing, “But what about like, security and things like that?” Zack crossed his arms, feeling as though he may have stumped Aileen. She just gave a somewhat girly giggle. “You’re strong, and I know it too.” She flashed him a smile. He huffed, “Why the blazes do you think I’m going to do that?” Zack straightened his posture. Aileen gave Peter the Is-This-Guy-Serious look, she looked back at Zack. “Because, as I said before. You want to get out of here.” She got on her toes, and thumped him on the forehead, “You bug.” Zack touched his forehead as if her skinny little fingers hurt him. He gave her a quick glare, before sighing. “Fine. But for my freedom.”
