"hello?"

tsukishima's voice made kuroo's stomach feel swarm with butterflies. it was weird to describe it like that, it made him sound like he was a kid again, but that was really what he felt.

"hey,"

the feeling was mutual for tsukishima.

"are you okay?"

a soft laugh came from the other line, "yeah - yeah, i'm fine. just talk to me."

it was clear that he wasn't fine, but it was obvious the captain didn't want to let up on what was bothering him, so tsukishima just did what he asked.

"okay.. about what?"

"i don't know. anything. like.. what's your favorite dessert?"

"um.. strawberry shortcake.."

he mumbled, earning a snort from the dark-haired male on the other side.

"seriously?"

"it's good, okay?"

"i wasn't saying anything. that's interesting actually, i wear strawberry chapstick."

tsukishima scoffed, "shut up."

"we've been talking for a bit, but i barely know anything about you." kuroo sighed, disappointment lacing his words, "play twenty questions with me, yeah?"

"okay."

"you know how it works?"

"i'm not stupid. go first."

"okay.. um.. what's your guilty pleasure?"

tsukishima let out a sharp breath, "seriously?"

tsukishima could basically hear the grin on kuroo's face once he said, "you have to answer."

"i've watched all the jurassic park movies at least 10 times."

kuroo laughed quietly, "you're kidding."

"i'm not."

the ravenette let burst out into laughter, "no way - that's your guilty pleasure—" he said between laughs.

tsukishima was surprised he hadn't woken anyone up.

"yeah, okay. how personal can these questions get?"

kuroo shrugged, even if the blonde couldn't see him, "i'm okay with anything."

tsukishima considered asking what he originally thought of when he was asking for the boundaries, but he bit his tongue.

"favorite animal?"

"i'll pretend like that was what you were actually going to ask. cats. 100%. they're so cute."

basic answer.

"okay, my turn? you play any instruments?"

"piano."

the captain knit his brows together. now that he thought about it tsukishima totally looked like the type to play the piano.

"holy shit. actually?"

"yeah. i had lessons when i was younger."

"that's sick,"

the two boys continued to use up their remaining questions, letting the time fly by as they did.

kuroo quickly started feeling better thanks to the blocker.

"last question," he stated. he'd been thinking of this question the minute he suggest the game, "okay, i gotta know,"

"what?"

kuroo's breath hitched as braced himself.

do i have a chance with you?

"do you like anyone?"

( a/n : it's middle school again lmao 😺😺)

"yes."

kuroo grinned.

"interesting. well.. thanks for talking to me, tsukishima."

"yeah."

"goodnight, sleep well."

"night."
