Gregory could feel everything. He could feel his heart racing, he could feel his blood in his veins, he could feel his hair brushing the back of his neck, he could feel the phantom pains from where Moondrop had gotten to him.
He could feel the hands around his neck, the claws on his back and arms. He could feel the fear that had enveloped him. He could still feel it all.
He stared at the little bear on the save point, taking in shaking breaths as he tried his best to calm himself. He didn't want to put it off though, so as soon as he saw it, he was walking through the door.
"Son, I am unable to reach you. If you could check the Daycare security desk for a security badge, you should be able to let me in."
Gregory shivered. He had heard Freddy say that already. There was a security card on the desk, all the way by the giant wooden doors. "Freddy, I don't wanna go back in there."
"What? Is there something wrong, Gregory?"
"I-I... I died." Gregory paused for a moment, staring up at the giant golden statues of Sundrop and Moondrop. "Oh my god, I died."
Tears began to fall, and Gregory allowed himself to curl up, burying his face in his knees. He was so scared. He wanted to go home, wherever that was. He wanted to go to bed, curl up in his blankets and wish this all away. He wanted nothing more than for this, all of this, to have been so nightmare. Maybe he would wake up in Freddy's chest, at the very beginning, and things would be different.
But they weren't, and he was alone.
"Gregory, what do you mean? How could you have... have died?"
The boy took in a breath, hiccuping a sob as he wiped at his face. "The-the save points. That must be what they do."
"'Save points'? I do not know what you're talking about, son."
Gregory shook his head. "I'll show you after I get out of here. T-the quicker I finish, the quicker I can see you again."
Freddy hummed on the other line, and Gregory could picture his brows furrowing and his muzzle twitching. "Alright, but be careful, Superstar."
Gregory made his way to the slide, going down without any sound, landing in the ball pit with a huff. He saw Sundrop dive down out of the corner of his eye, but he ignored him in favor of rushing towards the security desk.
"New friend, you can't go over there! That area is off-limits!"
"I don't care! Go away!"
Sundrop let out some kind of whine as Gregory carefully snagged the security card, not wanting to shut off the lights again. He didn't want to be punished anymore. Looking up, Sundrop was in the same spot as he was when Gregory had shut off the lights, balancing carefully on the edge with a curious smile. "Hello, new friend! You sure are up late! Are we having a sleepover?"
"N-No, I was-was just-" Sundrop jumped down, coming closer to the boy, causing him to panic. "N-No! Go away! St-stop!"
Gregory tripped over his feet, landing against the boxes that had trapped him earlier. Tears began to well up in Gregory's eyes, his cheeks turning red. Please and sobs began to form in the back of his throat, ready to beg for his life, when Sundrop stopped. The animatronic looked curious and... concerned? The bright blue eyes of the bot darted around the room before landing on something in the distance. And then he was gone.
The boy caught his breath, deciding to bite down on his hand to hold back the sobs that wanted to break free. Hot tears fell down his cheeks, and Gregory leaned against the box beside him. He was so tired, and he wanted Freddy. Freddy could keep him safe and warm and protected. Freddy would be able to carry him around without complaint or doubt. Freddy would be able to show him things he could have never seen. Freddy would be there.

Total Insecurity
FanficIt was dark, and Gregory couldn't help but shiver. From past experience, the dark meant bad. The dark meant gross and evil and scary. Hiding in a giant animatronic bear should change that feeling, but still. It was scary. -------- Cross-posted on Ao3
