Soon after y/n had found out they won the lottery, they made their way to the bank and cashed in the ticket. And just as they thought, 1 million dollars had been added to their bank account. Well, maybe a little less than 1 million, with taxes taking some of their winnings.

The news was spread of their newfound winnings, and soon enough estranged family members had contacted them, begging for a share in their wealth. Y/n of course felt bad, but they knew what they really wanted from them. They were well off enough without Y/n's money, but they were greedy. Maybe if they were truly in need of the money, y/n would share with them. Besides, they've never even met these family members, and now they are reaching out because y/n won some money. To them, these family members didn't seem to genuinely care for them.

They gave a bit of the money they had won to their parents. They deserved it, their mom and dad had taken such good care of them. Y/n was raised to be a kind and good person by them. It felt like they were paying them back for all of the hard work they had done to give y/n a good life if that makes any sense.

Y/n also gave some of the winnings to Mr. Earl. He was the one who told them to keep the lottery ticket. It felt good to give him a share of the money, thinking about him giving it to his kids to raise them well. He was already a great father, they had seen him with his kids. He was loving and caring, he reminded y/n a little of their parents, who also were very sweet.

Even with sharing some of the winnings, they still had a ton of money. To them, it seemed like that much money could keep someone living comfortably for their entire life. Y/n had an idea of what they would do with it though. It may seem childish to some people, but they had always dreamed of living in a cottage.

It was a fantasy to them though, something that they could only imagine. But now that they have enough money, they could really live out their dreams. Nothing was keeping them in the city they were in now. Y/n didn't have any family who lived here, no job, no school either. They had been researching cottages for sale ever since they were young. "Why not," they said aloud, even though no one was around here their comments.

Even though it seemed like a rash decision, made their choice. They were going to finally move into a cottage. They first bought their dream wardrobe. (Y/n would just buy whatever your style/dream style is :D) They bought a new phone, a new laptop, and even a new car. They were living the life now! Money can't buy happiness, but it sure can buy a lot.

Most importantly, they bought themselves a cottage home to live in. It was located in a small town, with less the 100 residents. The home was cozy and small, probably only big enough for one person. Maybe even two, if you found your special person. Y/n was never interested in romance though so it was only an afterthought.

They started packing their important things up and getting ready to move almost instantly. They didn't take much furniture, they had ordered some to be shipped to their new house though. Their apartment sold oddly quickly, almost a day after it was put on the market.

After everything was taken care of with their apartment they went and said goodbye to the friends they had in the city. It wasn't many but they sure would miss them. It was a little bittersweet moving but they were hopeful for what was to come. And with that they were gone, Y/n took their car, packed up, and moved. Saying goodbye to their old life, and hello to a new one!
