'DRIP! DRIP! DRIP!' Ashley sighed, her gaze falling on the pail in front of her. "When will the roof get fixed?" She asked herself. "If I keep relying on others, I don't think this work will ever get finished. Besides, I don't even think Ms.Mildred cares about this."

So she stepped out of her comfy bed, grabbed a few broken pieces of wood. Suddenly, Skittles, a dog and her orphanage's sole companion popped from behind.

"Woah! Hello there! Always giving me a surprise, aren't you? What have you been upto lately? Hang on, I'll just fix this leak so we both can sleep peacefully." She said and looked at the bright moon out of the window, and sighed. She then proceeded to repair the hole in the roof with a hammer and a nail.  The door to the orphanage burst open as she continued to work, and there stood Valerie Mildred, the orphan keeper. "Skittles, hide!"

Well, meet Ashley Vivian. A compassionate, kind girl and TOTAL lover of books. She has a large, vivid imagination, and believes that magic is always around us. She never knew about her parents, so she assumed that they were probably dead maybe after when she was born. Being the only one alive, she had to be sent to an orphanage. Unlucky, it had to be the one she currently is in. You ask why? Wait and watch in 3...2..1.

"Ashley Vivian! What in the name of doughnut are you hammering on so late at night!? Can't you do whatever you're doing in the morning?"

"I'm extremely sorry Ms.Mildred; I was attempting to sleep but was unable to do so due to the sound of trickling water from this hole in the roof. So, I came up with the idea of trying to alleviate it." Ashley remarked.

Ms.Mildred gave a long sigh and glared at her and said through gritted teeth, "I'm sure you can wait until morning. Now go to bed!"

"Oh,ok Ms.Mildred. Night!" But there was no reply, but rather a loud 'Thud' of the door.

"Well, guess we have to wait until tomorrow, Skittles. Good night!"

The dog barked back, making Ashley smile. She soon entered her world of dreams........
