What was scrapped? (First half of N&C)

Well, I'll just go in order of the "arc"s. (Chapter numbers are in brackets).

1) Summer Cookie Camp (1-9)

Not much was deleted, this part was basically me in quarantine wanting to go to similar camps and yet being stuck at home. The reveal of Pecan's murder was pretty much meant to be in the first arc, while the basketball match was mainly filler. Badge-making was going to be a key thing at the start, as I had already planned for the badge to be passed onto Walnut once Almond crumbled. It was already there for the emotional damage that would ensue later.

Pecan knew about their friendship through Prophet. It's not specifically mentioned, but it's hinted later on. Prophet didn't suddenly visit the City of Wizards for nothing, he was prepared to save them - and it's implied that Prophet's family has ties with the main cast, either through Pecan or Cashew.

(This would originally be mentioned in the later arc, but I don't think I included it in the final book.)

That's also one of the reasons why Cashew approves of Almond and Roguefort's friendship, because Prophet was there through the entire thing to update them on everything. I don't think many of the readers caught that though.

2) The Visit to Buttercream Choco's House (10-13)

Buttercream Choco's family plays a (mostly) antagonist role throughout the book; Buttercream Choco's unnamed mother hides the Topaz Tome (or as I like to call it, the Tome of Truth) and forbids anyone - and I mean anyone - to find it, especially our main protagonists. (Buttercream Choco, being the naive child who wants to do everything morally right, eventually stands up against this.) The Topaz Tome cannot be viewed by the Cookies directly linked to its shining truths. So when Almond touches it, it flies all the way to Blueberry Pie.

At one point in time, the three would be able to find the Tome, but the Tome would be written in some sort of ancient language that they could not decipher. This idea was scrapped and replaced by the original because I would have to go into Cookie languages, which would be a pretty eccentric topic to expand on - it would also make no sense in why Buttercream Choco's mother or Gouda would be able to read it.

3) Roguefort's Escape (14-15)

I remember being incredibly happy after finishing chapter 14. Roguefort's escape from his family was basically inevitable at that point and (with some assistance from his mother - that's revealed later though) and I knew there had to be some in-between bonding time ohohoho

Don't we all just love a little fluff before the inevitable storm? :>
