Mother let out a sigh and turned to me and my father. "Alright, now be on your best behavior! Both of you! This is the first time meeting our new neighbors. Reynold, don't you dare drink one glass of wine or any alcohol! Natalie, please try to get along with everyone." She groans.
"If those girls are going to be here I can't make any promises." I shot back.
"If your going to start something, just please don't make a scene! Lock them in a room or something, just something subtle!" I roll my eyes. The doorbell rings. Mother jolts. "Alright remember what I said." She whispers while walking to the door. She opens the door putting on a polite smile and greets the first set of guests. Every year, mother throws a neighborhood Christmas party. To regain her reputation with the neighborhood. Apparently, it's my fault? She blames me, saying that I keep ruining our rep. All I could think of was that incident with Xavier? He ran off and attacked one of the neighbors. He has his shots so, they should be fine. And there was that other time, when I accidentally caught the table cloth on fire... I turned my back for a second and the table was up in flames as well as the dinning room. But the firemen came and took care of it! Only a part of the house burned. I believe they are still renovating? I don't see why it's so important? Everyone here is doing the same thing, even the new neighbors. It's pointless really.
"Hi." I looked up from my phone a boy my age stood in front of me. His eyes were a mixture of green, blue and brown? The tinge of green stood out more then the blue. The brown was faint. He wore a small dimpled smile. And his brown wavy short hair was neat and combed. Hmm he's not bad looking...
"Hi."
"Do you need help or anything?" He stammered awkwardly.
"No not really, just help yourself with snacks or whatever." I couldn't keep my eyes off his. Finally I was able to pull them away. I looked at my phone, so he's probably going to be going to my school. I wonder if we'll be in the same class? I wonder if he's in the same grade? Wait why am I thinking this? The couch shifted, he's sitting on the couch with me. Eurgh! Why do I feel so anxious! Why is he sitting here anyway?
"So um-" I looked up at him. Not noticing Xavier creeping towards him.
"Grr..." Xavier Growled at him. The guy with gorgeous eyes flinched.
"Oh, you have a dog." He said shortly. By his behavior I can tell he doesn't like dogs. He's afraid of them. I leaned off the couch, to reach Xavier. He's probably even more scared right now!
"Xavier..." I warned.
"Grr..." That was one nasty growl.
"No..." I warned.
"Grrr... ruff!" Xavier lunged at him, I got off quickly enough and yanked him back.
"No!" What is this dogs problem? He usually doesn't act like that with strangers. I yanked at his collar pulling him away from the guy. Xavier kept fighting and fighting me! If I let him go he might kill him! I drag Xavier to the kennel and let out out a sigh. "What's the matter with you?" I head back to the living room. The front door creaked opened and more guests came inside. Ugh... I heard the voice of Ethan and of course Kyra and her lovely brother. "I'm so sorry usually Xavier's we'll behaved."
"I-it's fine!" He stood up to reassure me. Wow, he's so direct?
"So what's your na-" Not now! I turned around only to be pulled into a hug!
"Natalie, Merry Christmas!" He pulled me in for a long hug. Taking me by surprise. I pulled away still a bit frozen.
"What's up with you?"
"It's Christmas." He shrugs. Okay... Kyra and Jasper join us.
"So nice of you to invite us Natalie." Kyra mocked. I rolled my eyes.
"You know if I had a choice you three wouldn't be allowed to step foot in this house." They all break into laughter.
"Where's that black husky of yours?" Ethan loves Xavier... That dog probably loves him more than me!
"In the kennel." I sighed. Ethan took a sip of his drink.
"What?"
"He tried to attack the new guy."
"New guy?"
"Oh yeah, another family moved in recently." Jasper added.
"Yeah, didn't you know?" Kyra looks at him ridiculously.
"Why don't you introduce us Natalie." Jasper smirks. I don't even know his name? The guy glanced over and and at group by me.
"Jasper, Kyra, Ethan this is...-"
"Gabriel." He finished for me.
"I'm Kyra."
"Jasper."
"Ethan." He said firmly. Kyra smirked, oh no...
"So Gabriel, did you come here to get to know the neighborhood or to get laid?" His eyes widened and he turns all red. Jasper stifled a laugh and Ethan choked on his drink.
"Uh... uh...I uh-" He stammered. I giggled he's adorable.
"You don't have to answer, Kyra is just messing with you." I giggled again.
"More like getting to know you, but if you feel too uncomfortable, then you don't have to say anything." I shot Ethan a glare, cut it out!
"What about you?" Gabriel managed to ask. "What are you here for?" Ethan's jaw ticked.
"To celebrate the Christmas spirit!" He said with a forced smile. Silence...
"Imma get a drink." Kyra takes off with her brother. Well this is...awkward.
"Natalie!" Oh thank god! I've never been happier to hear my mother's voice. I rushed into the kitchen. She looked at me skeptically, "Have you seen your father?"
"No but I-"
"We'll don't just stand there! Look for him! She said quietly. I rushed out to find my father. He's probably passed out drunk as always. The front door opens ugh... more guests. The snobs...
"Natalie... your still here?" She said hanging up her coat.
"Of course I'm here! This is my house-" She walked off mid sentence! Urgh! I'll strangle her! The other snob walks in, throwing me her coat like I'm some damn maid!
"Hang that up for me."
"Do I look like a maid! Hey!" She walked off ignoring me completely. The last one came in giving me a fake smile.
"Natalie, is Ethan around?" I roll my eyes. She unbuttons her coat and throws it at me.
"How should I know? Now take your coat and hang it up yourself! I'm not a damn-"
"Oh! There he is!" She took off leaving me a pile of coats. Urghh! Those brats! I grudgingly hang up their coats. Mother glared at me from the entertainment room. I groaned, Now where the hell is father!
