Gabriel had lost track of time a long time ago when noise came from Verona's wrist, she checked it out and told him it was time to start the operation. They walked the way back in silence, not an uncomfortable quiet but a satisfied silence. They arrived in a hanger inside the cruiser, filled with all sorts of fighters. Chip drilled him hard enough that he could even name a few but all ships were modified in one way or another. Verona led him to a transport ship with an open back, inside was the cone shaped thing Chip built with Chip working on top of it. Next to her was a nian in a familiar uniform he recognized from somewhere but couldn't quite pinpoint from where exactly.
Chip broke the silence, with an excited call towards him: "I've been looking forward to this day. Ready to make this Galaxy a better place?"
Gabriel answered: "And how exactly will killing improve the world below us?"
Chip countered: "Grew up in a monarchy. I prayed for someone like you to come down and go on a royal killing spree more than once." She opened the front off the drop pod, revealing a seat in the middle of it.
Gabriel was still oblivious to what he was about to do. "In that case, let's stop wasting time and start making little Chip's dreams come true." He sat down inside the pod and Chip closed the door behind him.
He watched Verona wave him goodbye through a tiny window, as the planes back closed followed by a gentle lift of. Gabriel would have normally been scared in such a catastrophic environment but the suit ensured him that there was nothing to be afraid of yet. He grew increasingly nervous as time passed, slowly realising that he was about to be dropped in the middle of an armed palace like a bomb. His mind started spiraling in fear when the pod suddenly started falling. The small window didn't show him much sky but he still saw lasers and rockets fly past him. Then there was no sky anymore he crashed through the floors of the palace, not a second later he hit the floor hard.
Everything ached and the beeping of his suit signalled him that his armor didn't like being dropped from a plane. He checked for damages expecting that something had broken but the damage report didn't show anything major, neither on him nor the armour. Looks like Chip didn't just kill me, he thought to himself. He forced himself to stand up, when Chip's voice surprised him.
"Wait. The pod needs a second to fire."
He held on ready to ask if that was a recorded message when the doors exploded off the pod. They were followed by a cloud of orange smoke and what Gabriel guessed to be a wave of shrapnels. His suit changed his view to thermal scanning, revealing that he was landed inside a ball hall around the smoke were eleven royal guards, unwilling to enter it. Gabriel noticed that they held RGG-12's, an above average assault gun but inadequate to penetrate his armor. It took him two deep breaths before he was able to convince himself to leave the pod and sneak to the guard closest to the smoke wall.
He watched the guard's heartbeat for a moment before raising his mace above his head and bringing it down on the unsuspecting victim. The mace hit next to the head, digging deep into the poor soul's torso. He watched the limb body hit the floor when a wave of ecstasy overcame him. He felt powerful. He felt free. He felt truly alive like never before. At first his fingers tingled in excitement then his forearms joined in. Bullets ricocheting off his armor got his attention. By the time he looked over to his enemies, he couldn't hold back anymore. He leaped to the closest enemy while taking a swing with his now bloody mace. The mace hit it's target's head, ripping it cleany of the shoulders. Gabriel froze for a second, the tingling was gone, leaving behind pure bliss in its place. Then just as fast as it vanished it came back, demanding more blood. He tried resisting the temptation but the anticipation of the bliss coming back broke his will.
The next target wasn't far away. Gabriel made eye contact with the shaking guard and not a second later his mace struck. There it was again. The bliss of finally being back in power, coursing through his veins. This time he didn't resist. He didn't resist because it felt too good to keep going. Thus the room stopped being a battlefield filled with enemies and turned into a hunting ground for Gabriel to indulge in.
