"Damn it Christina, I said no!" Adam chased after Christina in the set's hallways, the contestants dodging their bickering coaches. Christina's high heels clicked at an even faster pace.
"Why not?!"
"Because I told you I don't want to let everyone know!" He shouted. She span around on her heel.
"Fine. Get the hell out of here. There's nothing to tell anyone anymore."
"What the hell are you saying?" He inched closer.
"I'm saying you don't have to tell anything to anyone."
"Oh my God, Christina. Do you know how different things would be if we went public?!"
"Yes, actually, I do. Considering I was married and have had multiple relationships!"
"And how'd they work out for you!?" Adam spat.
"Get the hell out of my face." Christina retorted with just as much vengeance.
"Gladly." He stormed off towards his trailer, punching the wall on his way out. "Son of a bitch!"
Christina quickly made her way past the aghast contestants and got into her car. Many of her team members walked up to question the tears gliding down her cheeks, only receiving the cold shoulder. She needed to break away from anything that reminded her of Adam. She didn't know where to go, but wound up at Blake's.
Miranda answered the door and invited her inside while they waited for Blake to return from the Voice set.
Xtina and Levine broke up. I'm still here making sure Adam doesn't do anything stupid. Have you heard from Christina? -Blake
Miranda quickly responded.
She's here, actually. I'll talk to her, you talk to Ad. Text me when you're done. -Mir
She sighed and made her way back into the living room with two cups of tea.
"Blake won't be home for a while," Miranda handed Christina a cup. "What happened? What brought you here?" She studied Christina's body language and she stared into the tea before taking a sip.
"Adam and I broke up." Christina replied flatly.
"I'm sorry honey." She paused, allowing Christina to collect her thoughts. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"He was being an asshole." She twisted her lips, looking for the bottom of the cup hidden by the dark liquid. "I was being an asshole. I don't know. We were arguing and then it became a screaming match in front of the contestants until I told him to get out of my face." A tear blotched her light jeans. "Did you and Blake ever... Fight that badly?"
Miranda wanted to laugh in her face. No one's arguments could compare to the petty issues that she had with Adam.
"Think of it this way, Chris." Miranda stared her in the face, continuing after Christina's eyes reluctantly met hers. "You and Adam are both strong headed, which is good and bad in different ways. On the positive, you don't take crap from each other. Unfortunately for you guys, when you disagree on something, it has the capability to turn out like tonight did." Christina sat in silence.
"Thank you Miranda." She finished her tea and set the cup in the sink. "I'm just going to sleep on it and try to talk to him tomorrow." Christina smiled weakly and walked back out to her car.

"Fuck her. I can't believe she just..." Adam paced the Voice set's lounge area as Blake listened to his rant. "Was I wrong to not compromise with her?" Blake shrugged as Adam took a drink from the bottle of beer. "I mean it was so simple but it was our privacy. It makes no sense to me why she'd want to ruin that."
"Adam, do you love her?"
"Yeah. Is that even a question? Why would you ask that?" He questioned suspiciously.
"It's normal to bicker. Maybe not at y'all's level, but you know Chris. She ends a relationship before it can consume her." Blake tried to read Adam's facial expressions. "After her father, Jordan, and Matt, can you blame her?"
No.
Adam sighed. "Can you take me home?"
"Which one? You've been living with Christina for practically eight months."
"Chris'."
"You're not too drunk to work things out?"
"Too drunk to care, not drunk enough to forget about her." Adam closed his eyes and pinched the base of his nose.
Blake pointed to the door.

Christina became weary of the silence and turned up the radio, instantly tearing up at the sound of Adam's voice softly playing within her car. Won't Go Home Without You seemed like another version of Adam. A version she wished she knew. She pulled into her driveway, disappointed when his beloved sports car wasn't parked where it usually was. He was probably spending the night getting drunk and writing music to retaliate at her.
She slowly entered her house and locked the door behind her. For the first time in a while, Christina had to turn on the light to find her way upstairs. Adam not being home before her was already making her uneasy again.
As she climbed the stairs, a cozy glow coming from behind her bedroom door was becoming brighter and brighter with every step she took. Christina gently turned the handle and stepped inside. Her eyes widened twice as much as they usually were.
There were candles everywhere. Around her bed, on her dresser, the floor, the nightstand, you name it. There was a single rose on the bed with a letter attached to it.
Dear Christina,
I've always known there was something different about you. From when you first made it big with Genie in a Bottle and I was still in the shadows. I remember your crazy personality on SNL all those years ago. But I'd prefer you forget how dorky I looked pre-tattoos. The first day of The Voice you made a snarky comment and we fought on and on. Suddenly I realized you were my best friend.
As the years went by, we grew closer. And one day, we kissed. Your lips had incisions from me biting down too hard. I couldn't tell if the red on my teeth was lipstick or blood. Your makeup artist got a kick out of it as you blushed when I walked by.
I'll always be here for you. I'm still here for you.
Love,
Adam
Christina reread the letter continuously until she got the courage to call him. At first she thought she was imagining his ringtone, but as she stepped closer, she could see Adam staring at his phone from jer bathroom. She ran and wrapped her arms around his neck, still crying from the letter. Adam kissed her cheek and rested his head on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I took it too far with some of my comments."
"You were pissed." Christina mumbled into his shoulder, taking in the smell of his cologne. "I'm equally at fault."
He squeezed her petite body and smiled broadly when her giggle echoed off the walls.
Everything was going to be okay.
