Keiko lay under the bright light of her lamp as she sat on the grass, tiredly trying to skim through the paperwork she had received from the hokage's office.

"What's a kid doing out here at this time?"

"Must you interrupt me, Nara?" The mans eyes widen before going back to normal as he walks up to the girl

"You should be asleep."

"As should you." Nara Shikaku was one of the only men she truly respected as he was a friend of her fathers.

"I'm an adult, I don't need as much rest as you."

"Leave me alone, I must finish my clan duties." He sighs, taking a seat slightly behind the girl.

"Who did you fight?"

"Hn." Shikaku deadpans knowing she wouldn't say anything.

"What a drag..." Silence filled the area except for the wild animals and night creatures sounds.

Sighing, she pinched the bridge of her nose and spoke.

"I cannot work with you behind me. Leave." He grunted, moving to sit beside her instead and successfully irking her.

"You can't read that properly can you?"

"It is not proper to reveal the information of other clans, Nara. Please, leave."

"Your twelve years old, so live a little."

"I live every day."

"No, I- Nevermind...What's wrong with your sight?"

"None of your concern."

"Come on kid. I promised your father I would take care of you-"

"Well he's dead, so don't worry about it." He frowns before grabbing something from his pocket and handing it to her.

"Here. These should help."

"I don't need them."

"Let down your pride for a second and take the damn glasses."

"Hn." Hesitantly, she takes the glasses from his hands, placing it on her face and blinking when she could now see everything normally.

"See?"

"I can always see. My vision is just slightly blurry." The man lets out an exasperated sigh.

"I forgot you were like this. A true mix of your father and mother, yes."

"Is the Nara clan investing in shinobi tools this week? I heard they have a new model."

"No we aren't. Is the Uchiha clan?"

"No."

"How come?" She purses her lips and opens her mouth to give a political response only to retract it and remember her true reason.

'I didn't want them to make something that caused more death.'

"I will not share my reasoning." He hums, turning to face her as she scrolls through her work much faster than before.

"Tch. They honestly expect us to just give them money? Those elders should learn a thing or two. My great grandfather was indeed wise in abandoning the leaf if this is how they treated him." He turns to the young girl with wide-eyes with a little panic.

"You're not-!"

"Never. I am loyal to konohagakure and will never abandon it, no matter how much Uchiha Madara disliked Konoha. Me saying that the first hokage was my most liked hokage just supports that claim, does it not? Besides, after Hashirama-Sama it would be Minato-Sama, for helping create my friend." He hums softly, looking at the young clan leader in concern.
