Changbin had always wanted a puppy. Every Christmas he would write a letter to Santa asking for one but never actually got it. Nonetheless, he never lost hope. That year, he too, wrote a letter to Santa asking for a four-legged friend.

On the 24th of December, he woke up with the first sun rays that swept into his room. In a state of excitement, the boy managed to lose his Snorlax slippers somewhere on the way to the living room where a big Christmas tree was.

"Are you up already?" he heard his mother ask with an amused voice sounding as if it wasn't a surprise to her to see her nine years old son rushing in his pyjamas to check the presents.

Changbin didn't answer her. He was too focused on the colorful packages under the Christmas tree. He scanned the name tags attached to them but couldn't find any for him. Was he a bad boy? Did Santa forget about him?

The boy sat on the carpet with a pout; his chin trembling and eyes filling up with tears.

He saw his parents entering the room but he paid them no mind. He stared blankly at his small hands feeling as his heart broke a little.

"Oh, Binnie, baby. Don't cry," his mother cheered him up. "Look, this year Santa prepared a special gift for you. A gift that couldn't be put in a box under the Christmas tree," she explained with a warm motherly smile and nudged her husband to show their son the thing he was hiding behind his back.

Changbin's eyes lit up like the lights on the Christmas tree and he ran to his parents. A puppy! His father was holding a golden furred puppy!

"For me?" he sniffled with his big eyes shining hopefully.

His father nodded smiling widely.

The boy took the sleepy puppy in his arms and placed a soft kiss on its head.

"I'm gonna call you Seungminnie. We're going to be best friends forever."

"You are the best Christmas gift I've ever gotten. I love you," Changbin whispered affecionately playing with his boyfriend's golden locks and fluffy ears.

Seungmin intertwined their fingers and placed a gentle kiss on the boy's knuckles. "I wonder what happened to being best friends forever," he teased smirking against his delicate skin.

Changbin blushed and elbowed him lightly.

"I didn't know that you were a hybrid back then," he protested with a cute pout adorning his plump lips.

Seungmin snickered and stole a kiss from his pouty boyfriend.

"I'm joking. I love you too, you pouty baby."

And that's how they spent their twelveth Christmas together: cuddling on the sofa in the living room and basking in the warmth of happily crackling fire in the fireplace.
