Denki's POV

Denki Kaminari is very embarrassed. Your easy win made him realize that he really needs to work on his stamina. Sure, you had ultimately lost to Bakugou. Sure, you probably embarrassed him on purpose due to the cheer uniforms. Sure, that was partially his fault. But the loss hit him. On live television.

Denki believed that the two of you needed to talk.

Thus, Denki is perched against the UA gate entrance waiting on you to arrive the next morning.

Y/n POV

The hero known as Sir Knighteye is actually a pretty chill father. He had to become like this due to fifteen years of raising you. So after briefly scolding you for your outburst at the festival, he praised you for your speech and competition.

The good mood from being praised followed you to the next morning, and you practically skipped towards the school gates. Your phone dings and you look down to see a ridiculous 'Good Morning!' GIF from Mirio. You laugh to yourself at how odd the boy is. "we need to talk. Y/n," a voice drawls, causing your head to shoot up.

You make eye contact with Lightning Boy. "Hmmm?"

"I, um, I want to-"

Denki's POV

What was I going to say again?

Everything that had been planned out in his head, possible apologies, possible questions about training, anything and everything had disappeared when he saw you walk up. The rising sun cast light rays through your hair, and you were smiling down at your phone. You looked almost ethereal in a school uniform. Then you looked up at him, and he had no clue what he was going to say. He shook his head. Just say something.

"Um, good job yesterday." Kaminari, you're an idiot. Just walk away. This is awkward.

"Um, thanks?" You look back down at your phone and laugh again. A blonde boy runs up to you, and Denki uses this as an opportunity to escape to class.

What was that?

Y/n POV

Denki congratulating you had been surprising, but you easily became distracted when your phone dinged. Looking down, you saw Mirio had sent a photo of himself with his hair spiked on each side like a clown. He really likes making people laugh.

Another ding informs you that Mirio is heading to the gate to walk you to class. As Mirio approaches, you look around for Denki, but he's gone. You shrug. "Helloooooo, little Sasaki!!"

"Helloooooo, One Million-And-One!!" You run to your basically brother and give him a huge hug. You like to call him 'One Million-And-One' as a play on his hero name, 'Lemillion.'

As he lets you down and you begin walking, he leans over. "Sooooo, who was the boy?"

"Who- Oh, that was Denki, he's in my class." You were caught off guard by the question.

The next question catches you even more. "A school-gate confession?" Mirio quirks a brow.

You burst into laughter. "And I thought I watch too many rom-coms." At the still quirked eyebrow, you continue. "No, nope. Unfortunately, I haven't had any of those yet."

Mirio puffs out his chest. "Fear not, Y/n. I'll make sure the entire school, no city, no no world- yeah that sounds good- joins your fan club. And then there will be no more villains because they'll want to do anything to see you smile. And then I won't have any more hero work to do. Though, I could save cats from trees, and I guess you could help-"

"You're such a weirdo." You giggle and push him. You've arrived to your class door, and- when Mirio falls into the wall- he phases through. You rush to open the door. He's already started telling the class to join your fan club or else. Just great. Your face goes red. He pulls out his phone and starts playing a video of you dancing from around two years ago. When did he-

You were the last to enter, except Mr. Aizawa, and the entire class turns as you march to the center of the room and throw Mirio out. "Get to class, or I'm telling Dad that you're slacking off." He sticks his tongue out, but follows your orders.

You turn to the class. "Please forget that happened."

The beginning of the day passes in embarrassment, until it's announced that you will be making your hero names. Midnight is there to help, as well as Mr. Aizawa. You've always thought that Midnight is really, really pretty. And cool. And amazing. Your hand shoots up to go first.

"Well, I've had this picked out for a while. I think it fits, at least with all of the plants and what-not... My hero name is..." You inhale. "Persephone." You breathe.

Midnight smiles and nods. "I think that will do just fine.' Whistles and applause erupt from class 1-A. Mainly Kiri and Mina. "Classy!" Mina exclaims.

After you, the rest of the class all create their names. Some get shot down and have to go again. The funniest is Bakugou and Mina. Respectively, their failed names were 'King Explosion Murder' and 'Alien Queen.' Honestly, you thought the names would leave an impression at least.

After class you are approached by your two best friends. "So, your name... isn't that the goddess that got kidnapped?" Kiri asks.

You laugh and shake your head. "Actually, there's debates on whether she was kidnapped or went willing. Also, she's way more than that: she's the goddess of spring, queen of Hades, and-"

"-hella cool," Mina finishes with you. She smacks the back of Kirishima's head. "She's told us this so many times. You should know all of this Eij."

Awwwww!! Mina just called Kiri 'Eij..' My shipping heart-

Midoriya interrupts your thoughts. "Hey, Y/n! I love the name, but I've actually been curious about your quirk. How does it work exactly?" A black notebook appears in his hands.

Mina and Kiri exchange a look, while you scratch the back of your head. "Well, actually-" You let out an awkward laugh. "I'm not sure how it exactly works. I can control plants really at any time. Plant-made materials too. I think it has to do with the cell." You pause, while Midoriya speed writes notes down. "Um, my body also kind of makes plants. Like photosynthesis, I have to get a certain amount of sun-"

Your best friends burst out laughing at this. Sure, you're aware that you get super awkward when explaining the photosynthesis part, but you still don't know why they find it so funny. You glare at them and turn back to Midoriya. "Anyway, if I don't get enough sun, I can only manipulate existing plants. However, if I get too much sun, my body starts making plants. Like I get moss on my skin. However, the trait shows up differently throughout my family. Take Shiozaki from 1-B; she's my cousin, and our quirks have a lot of differences. I'm not really sure how to explain, but she can't manipulate plant cells individually, I think her quirk is stronger in making plants." You pause to breathe. "So yeah.."

Midoriya snaps his book shut. His eyes show the fast thoughts racing through his brain. "Gee thanks, Y/n! Your quirk is so cool!" The boy smiles and turns around. As he walks off, he shouts over his shoulder. "Bye, Mina. Kirishima!"

The three of you shout back. "Bye, Midoriya!"
