Empty promises are frowned upon in most places I have ever been to. By most, I mean every single one of them that wasn't this place. My parents hated it when I supposedly lied to them, which was just other people lying through their teeth, but they were adults so they couldn't possibly be lying. A single flash is all it takes and you're alone now, it's not very moral but it's the sad truth about life. My life has been short and sad. To put it simply. The true explanation of my life would be too upsetting to tell, as this isn't why I'm here today. The reality of the world isn't my main point to get across either, it's a story about two girls, one of them being me of course.

Upon entering the bare field, I realized that this could be my new project, before the end of course. I know what my mother said wasn't a lie, and that it was really going to happen, I'm not sad about it in the slightest. It makes me work harder at things since I have such a limited amount of time. I take my backpack off and throw it onto the ground, sitting on the grass and digging through it. Suddenly I see someone approach me, looking around my age. They had short black hair and blue eyes that pierced through my very soul. I couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl, their demeanor was very boyish..or really just looking on guard which isn't necessarily a 'boy' thing but I suppose it could be. They stepped right in front of me and leaned down, inspecting me closely with their thin eyes. "Uh...Hi?" I waved at them slightly, still confused why they are staring at me. They sat down, grabbing the pen and notebook from my bag and writing in it quickly. They turned the notebook over and showed me what they wrote. 'I can not speak English' their handwriting looked like print, it amazes me how they can write like that and not speak English. But I suppose learning how to write in a language is easier than learning how to pronounce all the words, and it's a pretty hard language for others. "Wait so, can you understand me? Or do you just not know how to speak it-?' I sounded out my words a little slowly, not too slow but hopefully enough so they could understand what I'm saying. They turned the book around and wrote again, showing it to me; 'I can understand, do not speak slowly it is okay. Words are hard to speak' they set it down and pointed at the word speak. "Oh uh- instead, you should've put pronounce." I scribbled the word out and wrote pronounce on top in bold letters, then looked back up and sounded it out for them. They smiled a bit, grabbing the notebook and turning the page, writing some more: 'I am May, what is your name' so it's a girl, I guess I should've guessed, their face is very feminine-like and they do have curves I guess. But I heard somewhere that kids are pretty andgronyus. May grabbed my hand, looking at it and pressing against my palm a little, she wrote something down in the notebook and pushed it to me. 'Your skin looks ill' ah. She sat on her knees and stared at me, awaiting a response. "Ah well of course, where I come from everybody has this skin color...it's normal trust me." I stand up, grabbing my bag and notebook. "Well, it's been nice meeting you May! I'll see ya tomorrow you should go home for now." she stood up and stared at me for a bit, "Name.." she spoke, her lips barely moved. Because of the silence, I was able to hear her soft voice, in any other circumstances, I wouldn't be able to. "Oh- um I don't know it, maybe you can think and give me one tomorrow!" I smile and push her away hurriedly. She looked confused but started walking away, waving a bit and finally disappearing into the light fog.

I wiped my hands off on my skirt, staring out at the once barren field, now having beautiful flowers spread out across it. I can't believe I was able to do this, it feels like a dream, really. The flowers gave off a wonderful scent, overrunning the horrid smell from before. I saw May walking towards me, wearing the usual type of outfit. Her hair has grown halfway-ish down her neck since it really hasn't been long since I arrived here. She stepped in front of me, holding a small dagger in her hands "Mother gave me this" she smiled and carefully placed it in my hands. The dagger was decorated with beautiful dragons, and had a common red theme running all along the handle. I touched the tip of my finger to the blade, it was sharp enough to cut through my finger if I pushed down even a little. I slowly handed it back to her, holding it at the tip of the blade. She took it in her hands, placing it in a sheath on her belt. "It's nice, but be careful you could accidentally cut yourself with that" I smiled and awkwardly put my hands to the side. May nodded and looked around the field, then looked back at me, stepping a bit closer. "Did you make flower?" she looked intrigued by the work I did, "Yeah, I had some seeds and thought they would look nice" I grab my bag and dig through it again, I'm sure I had some kind of tree seed in here, I can't exactly remember. She stared at me as I checked my bag, still looking very interested in it. I pulled out a tree seed, smiling and dropping it in May's hand. "We should plant this in the middle of the field, it would be cool!" I walked to the exact middle and pushed down, digging down a little and waving for May to come over. She walked over and placed the seed in the ground softly, covering it and then staring at it. "What is it? Anyways whaddya wanna do now?" she looked over at me, pulling the dagger back out. "I show you" she stepped back and pointed the dagger at the sky, dropping it and turning around. She immediately leaned down and grabbed it right before it touched the ground. She spun around once again and threw it up, her fingers barely passing through the handle. She smiled and slightly moved to the side as the knife started dropping again, she pinched her fingers right in between the blade and stood up. The dagger loosely hung above the ground, and she stood up straight. She looked around and shoved the dagger back in her belt. "I have to go" she turned around and ran off into the distance.

My health has been declining, as expected. But it's declining quicker then I assumed it would. I guess she really meant it when she said 'soon'. I leaned against the small tree and hugged my knees tightly. If I die May will surely be sad...I don't want that to happen. I need to make her forget about me. A shadowy figure crept up behind me, and I quickly turned around. There was a beautiful woman with long silky black hair standing there. Her dress was a little torn but went down to her ankles, wearing these brown sandal things. She leaned down to me, her thin brown eyes piercing through me like a sword. "Wǒ kàn nǐ shì nàgè nǚhái......wǒ hěn lèyì wèi nǐ zuò nà jiàn shì......" she smiled slightly and waved her hand over my face. Suddenly disappearing and never returning back.

...At least she'll be happy now.
