The diary of Dorothy roberts

April 9th, 1918

I am so happy today! Do you know why? Well of course not, well yesterday I heard my dad was coming home but I didn't think anything of it because I thought I misheard. But Mother came to me and told me dad was coming home! Brother isn't as excited though, he asked mom "what happened to him." I don't understand what he meant though, But mother whispered to him saying "not in front of dorothy." She thought I couldn't hear her, but I could because I wasn't deaf! Mother has quite a strong loud voice, brother has a soft deeper voice, Daddy has a very strong voice, Me though, "i have an annoying squeaky voice" as brother calls it. Mother tells me to ignore him just like she ignores dad. She started laughing when she said that, I don't understand it. Tomorrow I'm spending the night at sarahs so I can ask her About my questions. My brother does not like you wich is stupid because i really like you! he says i tell you more about than what i tell mom and him. Although I can trust him, I don't want anyone knowing my private things. Mother just got a letter! She is going to read it now, i will be back. Mother read the letter and it was from granny, she said that she is gonna come visit us! She is going down to visit aunty. So she will only be here for a bit, I guess aunty got that flu i was talking about on the first page. We don't have reliable doctors so granny is going down to take care of her. Granny will do almost everything for her children as long as it's not traveling half the world. granny is very thankful that she has a car, she has the new "Pierce-Arrow Model." I don't actually know if it's new but it always looks shiny! That's probably because granny always cleans it, papa is always at work. Granny is here, I have to go!
