Jeez, this day has been so long and it’s only 9 am! I’ve been busy with my programming, I’m working on this new AI to assist you with researching. Lots of trial and error. I start up my navy blue Suburu and lean against the cold grey leather seats. I have to go pick up Willa so she can go to school, she’s been saving up for a car of her own for ages now. I don’t mind driving Willa, we get to have these lovely chats about whatever’s on her mind. They usually end in laughter. I turn on my Broadway musical playlist, I’m a theatre kid what do you expect?

I’m driving through the dark and dreary city, the smell of bitter cold and diesel is in the crisp air. Sure to the average eye it looks cheerful and bright, but once you know the history behind it you see what it really is. You see the signs from cafes that are all lit up saying “Hey! We’re open! Come on in!” but really they’re saying “Hey! Please come in! We’re desperate and barely paying our rent!”.

You see the graffiti painted all over the worn-down buildings, shoes hung on the laundry lines as a painful but needed reminder that not everything is permanent, not everything was perfect in the past. Not everything was as joyful as people say it was. Next door to the painful reminders of what the past was you see a tall tower with a giant A on it, shiny and new. Flaunting how perfect it is. And guess who lives inside of it?

That’s right, the superheroes. The same ones that take credit for everything they didn’t do, the ones that ignore the problems in our world, the exact same ones that destroy everything, including lives, and then walk away saying they did nothing wrong. Saying that they won’t pay for the damages and losses because they were busy saving the world. Taking credit from those who saved but chose to hide in the shadows.

Maybe I should just scrap the idea of an AI helping you research and instead make something that shows the world the so-called ‘Heroes’ true colours. That shows the world who they really are. Maybe then we wouldn’t lose so much in collateral damage. A song about losing everything and rising up is playing in the background of my thoughts, maybe I need to finally rise up and take action instead of hiding in the dark shadows. Now’s the time to fight, to make the world see the truth.
