Cold... You feel like your body is being kept in a morgue freezer. As if you'll be frozen and become nothing more than a mannequin or statue. Fortunately you have Thoma, who dons a Pyro vision, staying by your side all hours of the day and night, as if you're a pot on the stove that he must not take his eyes off of. Speaking of 'pot on the stove', you could only watch helplessly from your bed as he ran back and forth from the room you occupied, to what you presumed to be the kitchen, if the distant clattering of pots and pans were anything to go by. In those small time intervals where he left you alone, the frigidness of the room would resurface, unstoppable now that Thoma's Pyro vision constantly emanating warmth wasn't present. With your fingers feeling like icicles, you pulled the blanket over you more in a vain attempt to quell the biting cold. When Thoma was around, it felt like a boiling pot, and you'd sweat buckets. When he wasn't, that same sweat felt like it froze on your very cheeks.
It was like being in the Heat Miser's ass, then immediately getting into the Snow Miser's right after.
Suddenly, the miserable blanket of cold lifts and is replaced by sweltering heat. You look up as you feel the color returning to your body, to be met with the wind-kissed meadows concealed within Thoma's irises.
"Heya! Feeling a little better?", he exchanges the ice pack on your forehead for a fresher one, which doesn't feel any different while Thoma keeps you company. You huff, and he sighs. Not in a disappointed way, but more in a 'I'm not sure if you'll get better soon' way.
"It'll be over before you know it, I promise! In the meantime, I've actually prepared some hot soup for you! 'Goulash', I heard it was a dish invented by a Mondstadt chef in order to help adventurers keep warm as they climb up the cold mountain of Dragonspine!", Thoma briefly drops some trivia as he sets the soup on the table beside your bed. "I'm.. not sure if you're in the right state to feed yourself... Don't get me wrong! You're already a strong person for fighting through your cold. But... you know.. it wouldn't be very appropriate as a housekeeper to just stand by and watch." You hum as a signal to him that you understand, and attempt to sit more up onto the bed frame to be in a better position to eat. Though you fail, Thoma quickly hurries over to the rescue and gently hoists you up. He then takes a spoonful of goulash, gently blows on it, and cups his other hand under the spoon, to ensure none spill (though, is it really smart to collect soup fresh off the stove with your bare hand?).
"Say 'ahh'!" You comply, letting the spoonful of goulash enter your mouth and swallowing. "Well, how is it?", Thoma inquires, looking almost expectantly. You give a weak thumbs-up, and he smiles gently. "It's best when it's hot, but I let it cool for maybe 2 minutes before coming up to your room. After all, you can't really taste with a burnt tongue!", Thoma chuckles, and you exhale to try to let him know that you would be laughing with him if you could. If you could. You start to think on everything you've been taking for granted up until now. Even things that seemed so simple, like laughing and even breathing... they seemed so impossible in your state. You miss when you could go out on the streets of Inazuma alongside Thoma as he ran his errands, or when both of your sinuses worked properly. Thoma had tried to even teach you some tricks on how to temporarily clear up your sinuses, like pinching your nose then releasing when you need oxygen.
Thoma seems to notice your momentary depression, as he puts your hand on your shoulder to redirect your attention to him. And redirect your attention it does. "Being sick and getting denied access to everything you were able to do before... really does make you grateful for everything no matter how simple and small. Then, when you get better again, you'll forget about it and move on. Then, when you fall sick again, you'll grieve over it again. It's an endless cycle... but I hope you know that when you get sick again, I will always be here, sitting at your bedside, talking to you, and nursing you back to health. In fact, taking care of you while you're like this.. it makes me happy. I-It's not that I'm glad you've fallen sick! But... the fact that I can.. take care of you and know that I'm helping you get better. And the fact that it's only us, only me taking care of only you. It brings me a greater sense of accomplishment than any other household chore.", Thoma prattles, taking on an unusually serious tone and flushing more and more as he talks. "It feels nice, being the one who gets you back on your feet."
You can feel yourself burn up too, and not just from the exceedingly hot Pyro vision resting on Thoma's hip. "..Oh! Oh, archons! Are you alright? Sorry, I was probably getting too carried away!", Thoma awkwardly laughs, pressing down the ice pack on your head that you forgot was there and almost instantly cooling your head down. "We should probably finish your soup, like I said, 'it's best when it's hot' !" Thoma begins spoon-feeding you the rest of the goulash, and you exchange few words until the whole bowl is done.
"There, all done! Good job," He sets the bowl aside, "Now, anything else I can get for you? A drink maybe? Is your ice pack no longer cold? Another blanket?""Stay with me", your voice barely makes above a whisper.
Thoma softly grins, slightly hunching over on the small wooden stool placed next to your bed, "Of course, your wish is my command."
