Mable came to wake her brother for school, it was the last day so they would be going back to Gravity Falls for the summer, she was so excited! When she saw that Dipper was sitting up and had his hands over his eyes, she knew he had another nightmare. Mable sighed "Mason, why don't you ever tell me about the nightmares?" She asked softly. All Dipper could reply with was a short "You don't need to know" Mable let out a depressed sigh, and simply said "I'm sorry." She left the room quickly after. Dipper signed and thought "She doesn't need to worry, why can't she understand that? Some things are meant to be taken to the grave?" He got up out of bed and got dressed, then went downstairs but didn't eat, He wasn't hungry right now. After Mable was done eating, they grabbed their stuff and got on the bus to school, Dipper was just happy the year was over. Now he wouldn't have to force himself to stay awake for class.
As Dipper walked into school he was pushed into the locker by Randy while being held by his shirt collar. Randy mocked Dipper saying "You better have fun this summer because after it your life is going to be a living hell" after saying that he dropped Dipper and juked him out, making him think he would punch him. Randy laughed and walked away. Dipper got up and grabbed his things that dropped out of his bag and went to class which was band. The class went by fast all they did was clean up and get all their stuff then just hung out for the rest of class. Next was Yoga, his P.E credit. It was a standard day, but Dipper couldn't focus on the poses. All of them kept somehow reminding him of the crying girl in the center of the floor. The teacher questioned Dipper's odd behavior, and asked him if he just needed to sit the last day out. Dipper said he did, and just sat there til the bell rang. Next was an assembly instead of a study hall. It was so boring they always did the same speech at the end of the year so Dipper zoned out. He was thinking about his nightmares, it was always the same one with just a small difference, and it's been happening for a little under a year now. He thought that by now he would be used to them but his hopeful prophecy didn't come true. Soon the final bell rang so the kids were free from the hell adults call school. The rest of the day went by quickly, with the twins just packing up their stuff for summer.
Dipper met up with Mable at the bus-stop, once they got home they grabbed their suitcases and bus tickets to Gravity Falls and went to start another summer in the small town. The ride was mostly quiet, it was just the two of them on the bus. Mable had suggested Dipper try to sleep on the way to their destination. Dipper was hesitant at first but eventually caved and tried to sleep. His efforts, though, were fruitless. Eventually he gave up. It was a quiet ride, it was calm. Mable was knitting and Dipper was just looking out the window. Eventually Mable said what she was thinking "Hey Dipper?" she had asked her brother "What's up sis?" Dipper asked. "Do you think that the nightmares you've been having are because of something supernatural?" Dipper was quiet for a second and then responded firmly. "Mable, you know that we defeated Bill, he's gone and can't give me the nightmares, ok?" Mable softly nodded yet wasn't fully convinced it didn't have something to do with the paranormal but also didn't think that it was Bill's doing either. The ride was silent once again. Dipper softly closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep. He wished he hadn't.
Dipper woke up in the Mystery Shack's attic. He quickly looked around the room, his eyes landed on his twin sister on a stool with a noose around her neck just about to kick it. He was so focused on stopping his sister from kicking the stool he hadn't noticed that the triangle window in the room had an unnatural luminescence glow. "Mable, what are you doing? Come on, take off the noose and get off that stool, please." Dipper pleaded to his twin. Mable responded with "Can't you see that this is your fault, Mason. You are a selfish asshole! The entire first summer, you basically forgot about me for Wendy. Wendy, Wendy, Wendy, that's all you talked about. You know what! I hate you and wish we weren't siblings." Afterwards, she glared at him and kicked her leg off the stool. What was left afterwards was just a loud CRACK and a pale, lifeless body. All that Dipper could do was stand in shock.
Dipper was shaken awake by his sister, he looked at his surroundings and calmed down when he saw that they were still on the bus. " Mason, are you ok? Why were you crying?" Dipper sighed and responded saying " Don't worry I'm fine, the nightmare was just a bit more gory, ok?" Mable softly let out a small "ok..." and went back to knitting, wondering why she kept trying to get her twin to tell her what the nightmares are about, she knew that he wouldn't tell her. Dipper grabbed a pen and some scratch paper and wrote a note to talk to Grunkle Ford about his nightmares. A couple of minutes after that they were at their bus stop so they got their stuff and got off. Stan and Ford were waiting at the stop for them, "Kids!" Stan calls out excitedly. "Hey kids, how was the school year?" Ford asks the two 15 year olds also happy to see them. "It was so fun, I made more friends this year and was an A and B student" Mable said excitedly, happy to be in the small town of Gravity Falls again. "It was fine, nothing new. I was a straight A student." Dipper shrugged and lied a bit, he would talk to Ford about the nightmares later. They all walked through a comfortable silence, something all of them could agree was healthy and calming. It definitely helped Dipper get his mind off his nightmare on the bus.
Once they all get to the shack, Dipper and Mable both go to Dipper's room to unpack his stuff first, while having a playful banter; throwing jokes at each other or playfully insulting the other and that back-and-forth continued to Mable's room to Unpack her stuff, By the time they were done unpacking it was late so they went to bed.
While Mable did, Dipper pulled an all-nighter in an attempt to avoid another nightmare. After a long night, the sun was up and Dipper went to wake up his twin so they could talk to their friends they haven't seen for a year. They went around town catching up and having fun. The day flew by as the fun continued. Eventually though, it was time to go back to the shack for the night, the twins needed to ease back to being in Gravity Falls. The next two days they explore the forest, starting Journal 5 and finally see the hide-behind. Dipper gets sick for the next two days due to his bad immune system from lack of sleep. One day Mable lets waddles outside to rome free for a few hours. Waddles rammed into a rock sculpture and shattered it all into pieces, leaving only the top hat and one arm. The rest of the two weeks they're working at the shack and just chilling, unknowing that Bill Cipher is roaming free once again.
