Author's POV
Two days later, both Veer and Naina were sitting in front of the Ganesh Ji's idol that had just been placed on a pedestal in their respective homes. Lord Ganesh is considered the God of luck, wisdom, and the remover of obstacles, hence why he is invoked before every auspicious event. After that, an invitation card is addressed to him, as an invitation to attend the wedding and bless the bride and groom. Other family deities are also invoked and invited to their wedding.
After the Naandi Ganesh Puja, the priest performs a havan for appeasing the stars and planetary lords so that they remain harmonious during the completion of the wedding.
Meanwhile, sweets are prepared from lentils and jaggery while singing the mangal geet by the ladies. This ritual is called byaah haath in which both Veer and Naina also participate. In the next ritual, Sonali and Roop, Veer and Naina's mother officially invite their families to attend their child's wedding. This is known as Bhaat Nyotana.
After 2 days of preparations, both the families move to Jal Mahal, a palace-turned resort owned by the Rathores, for further rituals. The whole day had gone in shifting the things from the palace to the resort. The resort was divided into sides, one for the bride's family and the other for the groom's family. While the helpers were helping in the decorations and preparations, elders were busy arranging stuff for various rituals, the bride and groom were busy in their world. Oh no, not where they were busy holding hands or sneaking glances at each other. They were busy arguing, for what you may ask. See for yourselves or in this case, read.
"Veer, stop following me around", Naina screamed at last, not able to keep her cool.
"Then accept my apology and I'll stop following you", the said man raised his arms in exasperation. Why couldn't she just forgive him already? It was just a comment about her tantrums, he had even corrected his mistake by taking her on the lunch date.
"Or, what? You will force me? Just like you are, right now", she asked.
"Naina, enough. How long are you going to blame me?", he asks, hurt and sadness in his eyes, begging, begging her to see his reasons.
"As long as I am tied in this unwanted relationship", she snapped.
"Do you, did you already have someone in your life?", he asks in a whisper, when her conversation on the phone with someone named Enzo comes to his mind, already afraid of her answer.
"Of course, you think I'd mope around for you for 5 years? I might have loved you in the past, Veer, but it doesn't mean you can just barge in my life again from where you left. Things don't work that way.", she retorts back.
"Who is it? That guy, you were talking to during our ring shopping, hmm?", he asks harshly dragging her into one of the open rooms in the corridor.
"No, he is just a friend", she answers back.
"Oh, so your just friend randomly throws out 'I love you's to you.", he asks cornering her to a wall.
"Yes. Now, you have a problem with my friends, too? Will you force me to stop talking to them? Or, better yet order me to throw them out of my life just because I'm getting married to you, huh?", she asks pushing him, trying to create space between their bodies.
"No. I would never cage you like that, unless you are friends with perverts.", he replies, pinning her hands to the walls, entwining their fingers together.
"Why do you even want to marry me? I don't love you; you don't love me; you love my sister. Please don't do this, Veer. You are spoiling three lives", Naina pleaded.
"I am sorry. For every wrong I have done to you, but I won't be sorry for marrying you", he brushes her runaway strands that had escaped her braid.
