Sagar brought Devami to his room and placed her on the bed. By then Vallabhi brought Nakulaa as Yaudhevi and Parthvi also followed after hearing the news.
"Devami how did this happened ?" Yaudhevi asked.
"I stepped on the blades instead of Vallabhi jiji." Devami said, wincing in pain.
"Don't worry it will be alright, I'll pull it out." Nakulaa said.
"No ! You're too harsh !" Devami said.
"But Devami, it has to be pulled out." Parthvi said.
"Not by Nakulaa." Devami shook her head.
"Really ? Who better than me can treat you ? Stop acting like a child and let me pull it out." Nakulaa said.
"You're too harsh when pulling blades and pricks out." Devami said.
Seeing the resentment of Devami, Sagar shook his head and then sat down beside, knowing he has to do something.
"Devami, let Nakulaa pull it out. It will only take seconds." Sagar said.
"No it will hurt a lot." Devami shook her head.
By then Sagar side-eyed Nakulaa, gesturing her to pull it out as he engages into a conversation. Nakulaa understood and nodded.
"Alright, look at me." Sagar said.
Devami looked at Sagar, her brown orbs meeting his dark blue ones, he gave her an assuring smile and held her hand in his.
"I shall call another Raj-vaid now. Will it be fine then ?" Sagar said.
Before she could say anything Nakulaa pulled one blade out, Devami winced in pain as she hugged Sagar.
"It's ok, it will be fine soon." Sagar said embracing her.
"Aah !" Her hands clutched his Angvastra, as Nakulaa pulled another blade out.
Her arms around Sagar got tighter and tighter as Nakulaa pulled out the blades from her foot.
"All are out." Nakulaa said.
Devami looked at Nakulaa and then few tears fell from her eyes, feeling the pain of pierced foot.
"You are really brave Devami, now don't cry." Sagar said wiping her tears. Devami gave him a small smile.
"Now I shall treat the wounds and soon you'll be back on your feet." Nakulaa said.
She then started applying turmeric paste on Devami's feet, by then Vallabhi came towards Sagar.
"Arya, I want to talk." Vallabhi said.
"Surely. Parthvi, sit next to Devami. I'm coming in a few minutes." Sagar said.
Parthvi nodded and came next to Devami as she kept looking at Sagar as he went outside the room with Vallabhi, closing the door.
"What happened ?" Sagar asked.
"The blades that pierced Devami's feet were purposefully placed there." Vallabhi said.
"What ?" Sagar frowned.
"Yes, or else why would such sharp blades be there at the premise of the temple." Vallabhi said.
"You have a point. But why would anyone place it there ? I don't think Devami has enmity with anyone here." Sagar said.
"She doesn't but I do. Those blades were probably placed for me, but Devami definitely got a premonition and then pushed me aside and herself stepped on them." Vallabhi said with a guilt in her voice.
"Don't blame yourself, dear." Sagar said keeping a hand on her shoulder.
"How can't I ? Those were meant for me." Vallabhi said sadly.
"Don't think like that. Instead we must find out who placed them there." Sagar said.
"Who do you think would want to take revenge from me ?" Vallabhi hinted.
"Suyodhanaa ?" Sagar frowned.
"Yes. I shall not spare her now." Vallabhi said.
She was about to leave when Sagar held her arms stopping her.
"You cannot. We have no proof against her." Sagar said.
"Then should we sit silently and do nothing ?" Vallabhi asked.
"No matter what, Maharaj Dhritrashtra won't punish Suyodhanaa, even if she commits the most heinous of crimes." Sagar said.
"That's true." Vallabhi said sighing.
"Suyodhanaa can be taken care of later, right now Devami needs us." Sagar said.
"Right. Let's go in." Vallabhi said.
