Chapter One
I ran through the silver hallways of Zorua's capital building, with multiple guards chasing me.
You can be such an idiot sometimes, Toril.
You thought you'd never get caught stealing their most prized possession.
You are such an idiot.
I had shoved the most prized possession of Zorua into my pocket, careful not to touch it with my bare skin. I had heard stories about what would happen if someone touched them. I wanted to avoid that at all costs.
Behind me, I could hear the guards getting closer. If I wanted to escape, I'd have to get out fast.
Or find a hiding place.
The only problem with that was there were no doors or objects along the hallway I was currently in. I glanced around and noticed I was nearing the end where the hall split in two. I skidded to a halt and peered down each. The one to my left had a door about a foot away. I ran towards it. I reached my hand out to the silver doorknob and flung it open to reveal a bedroom. I know what you're thinking. I'm wondering the same.
I quietly shut the door and wandered to the back of the room where a window was placed in the wall. Looking out, I realized how high up I had gone.
There was a fluffy, white cloud outside the window. I cursed in my home planet's language.
"What do you think you're doing in here?" came a shout from behind me. Crap.
I spun around to see a boy who looked about my age, 16, standing in the doorway. He had goggles on top of his head that caused pieces of his dark brown hair to spike up in places. As much as you may think, it wasn't his looks that caused me to stare.
He was pointing a gun at me.
I began rambling off in Ostirian. Clearly this Zoruan didn't want to play around because he cut me off with "I know you can speak English."
I sighed. "So, Galaxy, what did you steal this time?"
"What makes you think I stole something?"
"The fact that there are guards after you."
"Well I didn't steal anything." The guard didn't look convinced, yet he pointed the gun to the floor.
And then he pulled the trigger.
The bullet flew towards my foot. Before I could move it away, the bullet hit me right above the toe, through my boots. I winced and knelt down to grasp my foot as blood spread across the previously white carpet. The brown-haired guard snickered and slammed the door shut.
I glanced around the room. A towel lying on a dresser. I slowly made my way over, got a hold of the towel, and pulled off my boot.
"Oh my goodness..." I muttered as I saw the carnage beneath. I wrapped the towel tightly around my bleeding foot and shoved my boot back on.
I stood up and faced the mirror. I saw a girl with brown hair in a messy braid. She wore a battered red leather jacket, boots, jeans, and a dark blue t-shirt. The most odd feature was the purple eyes. There was blood all over her hands. This girl most definitely did not look like a space vigilante.
"Holy smokes, I look terrible."
Loud footsteps came from the hallway. I reached for my gun as the door flew open.
The brown-haired guard stepped back in.
"What do you want?" I snarled, raising my gun.
"You really think I'd leave you alone with the time gem?" I sighed. "Suppose not..."
Then an idea popped into my head.
Let me give you a quick lesson on my race, the Ostirians. We were in possession of the space gem, which we get powers from.
And I decided to use just that.
