Chapter Two

"Have you ever heard about the powers of Ostiria's gem?" I questioned the guard, who did nothing. "I take that as a no. Why don't I show you?" I added with a snicker.

"How about no, Galaxy."

"Oh I disagree," I replied. I lifted my hands from my sides as purple energy began to swirl around them. The guard's eyes narrowed. I slapped my hands together and slowly pulled them apart, forming a swirling ball of purple energy.

"Just wait a second," said the guard uncertainly, as if he were trying to buy himself time. Considering the circumstances, he probably was. "Why are you stealing our gem? Is there any other reason then because I wanted to?"

"Actually, yes. I want to destroy all of them. The last time someone got a hold of all six gems they almost destroyed the planets. I don't want that to happen again."

The guard nodded and stepped away from the entrance of the door. I narrowed my eyes and then half limped, half ran out the door.

It surprised me that the halls weren't filled with guards. I was sure the guard in the room would have alerted everyone.

He must really want to take down the famous Galaxy.

I limped down the hallway, trying not to put pressure on my bleeding foot. Why did I even go into that room in the first place? I knew the place I had to exit. I had just decided to find a detour. You see what trying to be so fast makes you do Toril? You need to slow down.

As I was thinking, I neared the door that led to stairs. Right as I was about to reach them though, I heard a shout from behind me.

It was the guard again.

I turned around and groaned. "What now?"

"I want to help you," he said, to my shock. "I want to destroy the gems."

I narrowed my eyes. "And why would I want your help? You did shoot me in the foot."

"I could've you somewhere else. Be glad I didn't." The guard walked towards me grinning. "Now if you want to escape, we need to get to your jet, which I'm guessing is either on the roof or the flight deck."

"Is it bad I parked on the flight deck?"

The guard chuckled. "Nope. It makes getting out of here easier. I can get us in and out." He turned around to head down the stairs but immediately turned back around. He held out his hand for me to shake. "I'm Blaze by the way." I took his hand and replied. "Toril."

"I get to know your secret identity?"

"Apparently we're partners. You'd have found out soon enough."

Blaze looked me in the eyes and nodded. They were red.

I backed up in shock. "I thought you were Zoruan!"

Blaze sighed. "It's a long story that I can tell you later. Now. let's get out of here."

I nodded and we ran to the stairs, or at least attempted to. My foot still hurt like crazy.

The stairwell was poorly lit. I could barely see the floor below us. It'd be a miracle if I didn't trip and hurt myself even more.

Miracles do happen because we got to the bottom without me hurting myself. It had felt like we had been climbing down the stairs for hours when it had only been a few minutes. Again, I was surprised to see no guards gathered, waiting for me.

A thought entered my mind. What if Blaze was tricking me into believing he was with me when he was really leading me into a trap? I decided not to say anything, just to keep an eye on him.

When we got to the door that led out onto the main floor, Blaze pulled me down. He pointed out the small window in the middle of the door.

"You see that guard with blond hair? We need to stay away from him."

I nodded. "So how are we going to get out now? He's right where we need to go."

Blaze pointed to another window on the wall. "The window. And your going to destroy it."
