In Ever After, everyone is a descendant of a fairytale character. These people pledge to follow the destinies of their parents using the Storybook of Legends, and then live their fairytale lives when they turn seventeen.

However, there was one person who had a huge problem with this lifestyle. Our protagonist, Raven Queen, who's the descendant of the Evil Queen, and was forced to follow her path of villainy.

'Why was she so upset with this' you ask? Well, long story short, the world of Ever After is divided by Royals and Rebels. Royals are well, royalty! The Royals are all people of royalty that get their Happily Ever After at the end of their story. Rebels, on the other hand, are everyone else. The normal citizens without royal roots, the monstrous villains or the simple shepherds, and even royalty with no Happily Ever After.

Raven, is one of those "Royal Rebels". Despite having a long line of queens (including her last name being queen), she is still a rebel due to her not having a Happily Ever After. In case you haven't heard the infamous story (which you have because you are reading this fanfic), let me explain.

Raven is the descendant of the Evil Queen, an incredibly vain, self absorbed, breathtaking woman, who's beauty is matched by no other. Well, one person is more beautiful and fair than her, her stepdaughter, Snow White. Snow White is a beautiful girl, with hair the darkest black, and lips a natural red. Animals love her and love to help her with chores. Not to mention she's a great singer. She's over a perfect human being. Because of this, the Evil Queen was furious. She made multiple attempts to kill her, but all failed. Finally, the Evil Queen, disguised as an old lady, poisoned Snow White with an Apple, but she was woken by a prince's true love kiss. The Evil Queen was later hated by everyone then locked up for eternity.

You can point out a very obvious reason why Raven l didn't want to sign the book and live her destiny, she didn't want to be locked up for eternity. But she also didn't want to poison Snow White, for the next Snow White is not only her niece, but also one of her best friends in Ever After.

The next Snow White however, wanted her destiny more than anything. She wanted her princess and her castle, her animals and her elegance, she even wanted to eat the poison apple. Apple White wanted her destiny.

Cut to the first Thursday at Ever After High, the school where students pledge their destiny and sign the Storybook or Legends. Legacy day, the day to sign the book, is just a single sleep away. Raven is alone in her room, looking out the window.

"Oh roomie! I brought you something hexcellent! I think you'll love it!" Raven could tell who the voice was, Apple White, the next Snow White and her friend she was destined to poison.

"What is it Apple?" She turned around, curious of whatever Apple could've given her.

Apple pulls out a long purple cloak, with black fur trimming it, and a Raven pattern on it. "How do you like it? You love it right! I knew you'd love it!" Apple jumped for joy excitedly.

Raven carefully and delicately studied the fabric and fur. "Why Apple, this is beautiful!"

Apple squealed with joy, happy Raven loved her present. "I know right! And it's perfect for your conducting your evilest plans, like trying to poison me!"

Raven's smile faded a bit. "Yeah, right." she said softly. "Hey Apple, I'm gonna go get some fresh air. Thanks for the cloak." Raven headed towards the door.

"Alright," said Apple. "Oh! And don't even think about giving me a gift back! That's for you and I don't need anything else!"

Raven gave a light, forced chuckle. "Okay Apple, see you later."

"Bye!" Apple waved as Raven shut the door.

Raven took a walk to the enchanted forest. She gazed down at the cloak in her hands. 'Evilest plans? I just to be normal!'

Raven remembered something said to her the first day of school. A conversation with Headmaster Grimm while practicing for Legacy Day.

"If you do not sign the book, your story will go poof."

"But-"

"Poof poof."

She didn't want to sign the book. She didn't want to be vain, she didn't want to poison Apple, she didn't want to be hated by all, and she didn't want to be locked up for eternity. However, she also didn't want to take away Apple's Happily Ever After, and possibly make them both disappear.

Raven threw her cloak in the grass in frustration, and looked into the distance, seeing Ever After High, the school that tortured her for years. Tears filled her eyes as she rand away, farther from the school she called home.

Raven didn't know where she was running, she just knew she had to run. Run far away. When she looked up, they sky was dark, the air was misty, and the trees were unfamiliar. "Is it night already?" she said nervously. She looked around and slowly but surely recognized her surroundings. "I'm in the dark forest... I'm in the dark forest!" She panicked and started searching for a way out, unknowingly going farther into the woods.

Raven sat down on a stump, giving up. She had been searching for what feels like ages and hasn't reached an exit. She buried her head in her knees as tears were about to fall. Suddenly, a voice called out to her.

"Raven."

"Huh?" She was shocked when she heard someone else. She thought the dark forest was abandoned.

"Follow my voice."

"Who are you?" She asked, this was awfully suspicious.

"The Ghost of Christmas Past."

"Really?"

"Nah I'm just playing, do you want to get out of this forest or not?"

"Well, yeah. I don't want to starve here."

"Then follow my voice."

Despite her suspicions, she followed the voice, it being her only chance at survival. She followed the voice all the way to a floating mirror. Although, something was odd about it, it didn't reflect. "A mirror.. wait, does it even count as one?"

The voice gave no reply, instead it said something odd. "Step in, and you will be drifted to the land your heart desires."

Raven put her hands in her hips, studying the floating oval. "Mirror teleportation huh? That's new." Without another word she stepped into the mirror, and everything went black.

Raven looked up, her vision blurry. Was she, laying on the ground? From what she could make out there was a blue sky and something big and yellow in her face. Her vision focused and she saw a blonde man with a bob cut and a hat.

"Ah, Mademoiselle are you alright?"
