Chapter 3

[Y/n's] pov.

I was sitting on top of a roof, lost in my thoughts.

'Nothing's out of the ordinary today. They really aren't showing their tails.
I have this bad feeling, but i can't clearly sense any demons. It's like they're veiled in smoke. They can disguise themselves so well.. Maybe the demon hangs out around here.. An upper moon demon? If that's the case.. we may end up flamboyantly killing each other.'

[The day after]

I was on top of a roof, with Tanjiro and Inosuke, but they still didn't notice me.

"I think Uzui-san and Zenitsu will come here for our regular meet up.." Tanjiro said.

"Zenitsu's not coming." i told them.

"What do you mean by Zenitsu is not coming?" Tanjiro asked with worry.

"I think i put you guys in terrible danger. The desire of saving my wives has caused me to commit a grave mental error. Zenitsu's whereabouts are currently unknown. He stopped contacting me last night."

"You two, get out of here now. Your ranks are way too low. If the demon here is an upper moon, you can't deal with them. I will regard people who have stopped sending me letters as dead. From here on, i will move on my own." i commanded.

"No, Uzui-san! we..!!"

"Don't be ashamed. Winners stay alive. Don't mess this opportunity up." i cut Tanjiro off.

"Hey hold it-" Inosuke yelled but i already jumped off towards the Kyogoku house.

- Time skip -

When i entered the house i held my kunai against the owner's throat.

"What happened to Zenko and Hinatsuru? Answer quickly. And don't look back." i told him.

As he gulped he started talking, "Zenko vanished. Hinatsuru got sick so she went to a more lowly brothel.."

"Say what's on your mind now. Who do you suspect?" i asked with a low tone.

He started sweating bullets and breathing heavily.

"Trust me, and talk. I will definitely kill whoever it is. I will avenge your losses."

"An Oiran named Warabihime. She lives in the room in the northern part of the building where the sun doesn't penetrate!" He finally told me while crying.

I quickly head out towards the said room, but when i opened the door, there wasn't anyone.

'Not here. She's probably out hunting people.'

I started running from roof to roof while thinking,
'I'll head to Hinatsuru's location while continuing to search for the demon's presence. If she's still alive, she should have some information.'

'Either way, the demon will head back here at dawn. I'll definitely put an end to this with my own hands.' i thought as i started running faster.

I laid Hinatsuru in my lap, as i held her head and gave her the antidote.

"Y/n-sama, don't mind me, just go ahead. You probably heard the sound a while ago. The demon is going on a rampage." She said after swallowing the medecine.

"You sure you're okay?" i asked her with a worried expression.

"Yes.. I'm very sorry for being of any use." She said with a low tone, while she kept sweating.

"You don't need to do anything anymore. Once the antidote takes effect, get out of Yoshiwara. Understood?" i asked as i held her closer.

"Okay." She answered as she started crying while i put my chin on her head and she buried herself deeper in my chest.
