Aether's POV

"Paimon, leave me alone." I groaned. Lumine laughed. "Hey, Lu, it's not funny!" I barked. "Paimon thinks it's funny." Paimon said, getting on my nerves. On the way to school with my sister and close friend. Lumine seemed to be always against me lately, and I hated it. "Aether, listen," she would say. Siblings are supposed to support each other and build each other up, but NO. She's always against me and I was tired of it. Really tired. But, all that aside, Lumine, Paimon, and I walked into the high school courtyard and were greeted by Xiangling, Chongyun, and Xingqiu. "Hiya!" Xingling said playfully. Lumine waved and sat down on the small brick ledge next to her, followed by Paimon. Kaeya and Diluc walked over. They glanced coldly at each other but continued walking. I normally hung out with them now, since I knew Lumine didn't want me in her so-called "business" and Chongyun and Xingqiu? I guess I was giving Chongyun some time to figure out what he was going to do for Xingqiu, and I'd help him any time he needed it. We were pretty close. Xingqiu and I were too.

"O. M. G. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" Xiangling cried so suddenly, dropping her phone, causing Xingqiu to look up from his book with mild confusion. "What!?" Paimon asked. "I GOT IN THE CULINARY ARTS CLUB! EEEEEE!" The bell rang, causing me to jump. The morning just started, and I couldn't wait for the day to end. I got really lucky, on one hand, because my locker was sandwiched in between Xiangling's and Kaeya's, and next to Kaeya's was Amber's. Across the hall as well, were Xingqiu's, Chongyun's, and Diluc's. Again, lucky for me, Lumine had hers on the other side of the hallway, along with Paimon. I went to Mr. Albedo's class and sat down next to Xingqiu, who was deeply engrossed in his book. I was actually lucky he was in my science and alchemy class, because he makes a good partner and I found this subject confusing. I keep pointing out why I'm lucky today, it's weird.

"Alright, class, I put a lot of thought into this and got myself an apprentice. She'll be in the class for the next few weeks, so treat her well, please. This is Sucrose." A girl with glasses and green hair walked into the room, turning slightly red. "H-Hello, everybody. I'm Mister Albedo's apprentice and assistant... a-and I can help you... if you'd like." And class carried on as usual, Sucrose giving tips every so often. "I don't get it." I puzzled again. Xingqiu leaned on my desk. "So to cause a certain chemical reaction between plants and compare photosynthesis, my liege, I guess-" He interrupted himself with a yawn. "Are, uh, you okay?" He nodded. "Yeah. Thanks. Just a bit tired." He continued trying to help me understand this whole comparison of photosynthesis thing until the end of class. "If you need help with your homework, feel free to ask." he said as he picked up his books. "Will do, thanks."

Lumine's POV

Kaeya was the only person I was close with in my Literature class. Ms. Lisa was very annoyed with Kaeya today, because he kept putting his feet on his desk. "Mr. Alberich, please take your feet off of your desk. It's not polite, you know." Ms. Lisa said. I rolled my eyes at Kaeya's ignorance. He could be such an idiot sometimes. Kaeya just laughed, then got a stern look from Ms. Lisa. He pulled his feet off of his desk with annoyance, but I knew anybody who got "the look" from Ms. Lisa was doomed to get in lots of trouble. I punched Kaeya lightly in the shoulder. "Don't get on her bad side, it's only like, three weeks into the school year." I told him. He shrugged. "What can I say? I like to stir up trouble." I rolled my eyes at him again. Lit was so boring, but I didn't dare say it out loud for the fear Xingqiu would pick it up. I tried to pay attention, but Literature was just a bit.. It just wasn't my thing, I guess.

The day dragged on as I avoided Aether in the hallway. He seemed to be giving me the cold shoulder lately. Why? I don't know. I'm just trying to help him, but I don't think he appreciates it very much. I asked myself "Why?" every night, lying in bed, as he slept only a room down the hall. I always fell asleep, though, before it could be answered. Paimon and I were putting out books away at our lockers and met up with Xiangling and Amber for lunch. "So you got accepted, huh?" Paimon asked excitedly. Xiangling squealed. "Yeeeessssssss! EEEEE!" "Congratulations!" Amber said, beaming. "That's really cool! So when do you start?" I asked. "Tomorrow! I won't be at school tomorrow to take a tour and then the day after, I'll be taking classes after school every day, and then some on Saturday mornings. My schedule's gonna be packed!" she chirped in reply. I laughed. "Hopefully you learn something tasty for Paimon so Paimon can eat something yummy!" "Are you saying my cooking now isn't delicious?!" Xiangling pouted. "WHA~!? No, no, no, no, no! It's just that Paimon thinks your cooking is super awesome and it'd be super cool to find out what you can cook with lessons." Paimon rushed. Lunch seemed too short.

Sucrose turned out to be really nice, the girl I met in Mr. Albedo's science and alchemy class. Diluc was sitting behind me and Chongyun to the left of me, and I was glad we could choose our seats in our classes, or I'd be forced to sit next to some emo guy or boy-crazy girl. I guess I could be a bit judgemental... never mind. After school, I walked home with Xiangling, Amber, and Paimon. I would've gone with Aether, but he took the long route with Chongyun and Xingqiu. He was starting to avoid me, I know it. Amber and Xiangling branched off to go their separate ways and Paimon and I walked into the building. Paimon's house was actually several more miles away, so she normally stayed in my house with me and Aether. Kaeya, Diluc, and Amber stayed in the same apartment complex, Xiangling lived in a small house of her own near that apartment complex, and Chongyun and Xingqiu lived in the same apartment complex. And of all people. I lived with my brother. Who was trying to push me out of his life forever. Fun. I glanced out my window to see Chongyun and Xingqiu lingering by the door, chatting with Aether. After dawdling for a few minutes, they left and Aether came inside. I locked the door to my room, which Paimon and I shared. I didn't feel like talking to Aether right now.
