Tales of the Red Spade

LRS: Contracts Pt. 1

So, a PMC usually deals in contracts. Well this particular one is being given to an operator known as "Fox".

March 26th, 2023

Somewhere north of Kokshetau, Kazakhstan 

As a Kazakh Mi-35 Hind-E flies over, Fox scoots back further under a pine tree. He pulls out his binoculars. The target is a Kazakh Ground Forces captain who's making a deal with some Russian mercenaries. No other context about the contract was given, it was just to eliminate tis captain, no other intel other than the location which was of course on the border of Russia. 

Fox is set up on a hill south of a village, at least a 800 meters from the village. Fox scans the area for about 30 minutes. He spots 4 vehicles, 2 are black SUVs, and the other 2 are Paramount Mbombe 4 mounted with .50 cals. A lot of soldiers unloading in such a small village meant that the intel was good and the captain was definitely going to be there. 

Nightfall rolls around and it starts to get colder. Fox knew the men were going to be in the village for a while when he saw Urals loaded with food and water. He can't start a fire because he knew that would his position away so he just covers up with a thermal blanket and some of the brush from the pine. He is going to have to keep scouting for a couple days until the captain arrives.

Somewhere north of Kokshetau, Kazakhstan

There's a lot of commotion going on within the village. Fox has been scouting for almost a week now and is finally seeing his targets showing up. 3 helicopters marked with Russian flags fly in, all full of troops. What confirmed the objective being mercenaries was that they were all wearing A-TACS-FG tops or bottoms with civilian clothes mixed in. Now that they were in the village, Fox would have to make his way down to the village and take out the captain and leave. 

Fox knew he would have another day before they all left but he was missing home, granted his home was an apocalyptic wasteland. He hurries down the mountain as quick as he can.

After about 4 hours, Fox has made it about 100 meters from the entrance to the village. Fox can see that the infantry guarding the area is not as dangerous as he was thinking they were. one of the men at the checkpoint is asleep, the other is holding a bottle of vodka. Not to mention both mens AKs have the bolt closed and safety on.

"Idiots." Fox says as he examines the village. He has watched the village for days now, he knows the routines and movements of all the soldiers. 2 crisp quiet pops ring out. He carries an AS-VAL with a Magpul RVG and Axion Kobra EKP-1S-03. The AS-VAL is quiet enough that no-one in the general area heard anything. As he moves into the village he sees the captain, around him 2 guards. He brings up his rifle and fires 5 shots, both the guards drop and so does the captain.

With Foxs luck no-one heard any of the bodies fall or the gasps from the Kazakh soldiers. Now that the target is dead, it's time for exfil. But Fox has a sense of humor, he writes a note on the captains arm saying "Next time don't pick communism."

He makes his way to an exfil 2 kilometers south near the village of Kyzyltan. In the flat fields an AS-365 picks up Fox and he flies to Afghanistan where he is then transported to the US.
