The bell to Luke's Diner chimed with the entrance of another patron. Entering the diner was a tired-looking girl who went by the name Sabrina. She had meant to walk to the diner alongside her mother and sister but slept in too long.

"Hey there, Sleeping Beauty," Lorelai Gilmore called out to her daughter. Sabrina walked over and sat between her twin sister and her mother.

"Sorry," she said. "I stayed up till 4 am finishing my book."

"You know there are other options to staying up all night. Maybe try reading during the day sometime." Rory commented, causing Sabrina to roll her eyes.

Sabrina was about to comment when she was interrupted by Luke.

"How's the cold coming?" He asked Lorelai. Sabrina, had grown used to their banter and simply pulled out a book and ignored them.

"Eat a vegetable now and then, like Sabrina," she heard Luke say.

Sabrina's head popped up at the mention of her name, slightly lost in the conversation.

"I think it's your fault she is vegetarian. You must have been brainwashing her every time we came here," Lorelai bantered.

"She does still have your coffee addiction, unfortunately."

"Speaking of," Sabrina cut in, "Can I get a cup of coffee with cinnamon and cream please?"

As Luke left to get her coffee, Sabrina felt her stomach turn. Right before her eyes, she saw Jess, a close friend of hers, making out with his blonde of the month. Few words were exchanged between the couple, but Sabrina decided she would include some words of her own.

"Hey Mariano, this diner is meant to be rated PG, not PG13. Take it somewhere else and try not to make us nauseous please."

"Shut up, Sab," Jess responded, his frustrated facade fading away with a small smile.

Her comment, although playful, was also an attempt to get her sister to relax. Sabrina was well aware of what happened over the summer, and she wasn't sure what to make of it. She cared about both people so much that she didn't want either of them to get hurt. Rory was her sister, her best friend, and somebody she knew inside and out. Jess was her friend, the first person she truly bonded over writing with, and the first person to read her own writing. If they were to hurt one another, Sabrina would feel crushed for both of them.

The following silence after the couple left was soon broken.

"Ladies and gentleman, an entire conversation in 10 words or less."

Sabrina just continued reading her book and drinking the coffee that Luke had brought to her.

Despite staying up late once again, Sabrina woke up early. She couldn't contain the mixture of unease and excitement she felt, she was about to have her last first day of high school. On one hand, she was so excited to see what the year had to offer for her. On the other hand, that meant she had to prepare for college applications, big decisions, and plan her future. At the moment, she was torn between two options. If she decided to stay in America, she was going to attend Yale, like her grandparents before her. If she decided to go abroad, she had been dreaming of attending Cambridge since she was a little girl. Only time would tell what she would do.

Sabrina finally pulled herself and quickly got ready for the day. She looked into her room, assuring that it was clean before leaving. Walking into the kitchen, she wrote a quick note to let her mother know that she was going to Hartford early in order to go to her favorite coffee shop.
