Of course she chose Ayato. Why would she ever choose someone as disgusting as me?

The crescent moon shone down on the white roses in the garden, a breeze combing through the bushes. The white rays of light reflected off the even whiter petals, illuminating the white haired vampire whose tears reflected the rejection in his heart. He had tried to love someone else and she chose his brother. What more rejection could a man feel?

He held his silver knife in his hand, unsure what to do with the lethal weapon. Gripping onto it tightly, he lashed out at the beautiful roses he admired so much, shredding the once vibrant petals. Stabbing at the flowers over and over again, tears running down his face.

Why would she ever choose me? Why would anyone?

His knees crashed to the ground, the knife falling beside him. Laying his head on the path, letting his tears water the remains of the roses as another vampire came closer.

"Subaru, what are you doing out here?" The red haired vampire straightened his hat, sighing slightly. "You've really done a number on those roses of yours. What did they ever do to you?" He laughed slightly, imagining his brother responding with 'they plucked me with their thorns', but Subaru's response was not humorous.

"Leave me alone, Laito." Subaru looked up at his brother, his eyes glowing with pain and anger. "I don't expect a playboy like to understand."

"Oh? Are you by chance referring to Little Bitch?~" The red head smirked, shifting his weight to one leg and crossing his arms over his chest. "Did you really think you ever had a chance with her?"

Subaru tackled Laito to the ground, wrapping his hands around the other's neck. Laito knew it wouldn't kill him, but it still hurt. He grabbed Subaru's wrist, twisting them to make them release his neck. Subaru finally let go of his neck, continuing to pin him onto the ground as he stared down into the older vampire's green eyes. 

"You should know by now to not tick me off." His red eyes blazed with fury.

"You should know by now how to take a joke." Laito retorted, "and besides, if you wanted a mate so badly that you go after a once human girl," Subaru glare down at Laito, ready to attack if he said something insulting about him or Yui, "then why don't you just mate with me instead?"

Red eyes widened as Subaru's breathe caught in his throat. The shredded rose petals scattered around them started to blow away in the breeze as the glow from the moon illuminated the slight blush on Laito's cheeks as he realized what he had said.

Subaru blinked once, regaining his composure.

"What...did you...just say?"
