"Becca, what are you doing out here?"
She looked up, turning around to look at who'd apparently joined her and smiled when she saw it was only Isaiah. Giggling slightly, Becca held up the bottle of champagne in one hand and almost empty flute in the other, "Well, I thought that much would be obvious."
Isaiah couldn't help the fond smile, even as he rolled his eyes and gently pried the bottle out of her hand as Becca threw back the remainder of her glass, "Ok, let's try again... why are you out here drinking alone in the cold?"
Becca huffed, gesturing back to the party inside with one hand while trying to take back her champagne with the other, "Not like it matters, no one in there is missing me."
Isaiah shook his head, wrapping an arm around the younger girl's waist to keep her back as he set the bottle down out of reach, some how managing to get the glass from her as well.
"Well that's just not true love," He smiled, turning them to put himself between her and the bottle, "I definitely missed you."
Smiling Isaiah leaned into whisper conspiratorially, "Why do think I came looking for you?"
Becca laughed emptily, but leaned into him more as a slight breeze picked up through the garden, "Well, you're the first to even think about me today then."
Frowning slightly, Isaiah cupped her cheek, tilting her cheek up to look at him, "What do mean, Becs?"
"Exactly what I said!" Becca shook her head exasperatedly, pulling away from him to pace the small area of the patio, "Do you know what today is, 'saiah?"
Frown deepening, Isaiah watched her stalk back and forth, agitation clearly growing with the sounds of the party inside, "I... well... I know it's your birthday..."
Becca let out a laugh that sounded more like a sob as she turned back to look at him, "I should have known you would remeber. Even if not a damned one of them did."
Isaiah stopped short at that, a sinking feeling settling in his stomach, "They didn't do anything for your birthday?"
"Of course they did," Becca laughed bitterly, gesturing back inside as she lost the battle to hold back tears, "Tommy turned it into this great big fucking mess."
Shaking her head, Becca rubbed roughly at the wetness streaming down her face, "Which I don't care... have your Christmas party. I could even care less about presents or any of that other crap... but 'saiah-"
She turned back to him, and the absolutely defeated look on her face just broke his heard.
"Not one of them said anything. They actually forgot."
"Oh, sweetheart..." Isaiah shook his head, pulling her back into him and rubbing her back gently as she cried, "I'm so sorry Bec."
The two of them stayed like that for quite a while, Isaiah continuing to hold and comfort her as Becca sobbed into his chest; until it eventually tapered off, her energy draining along with it and she sagged into him more.
"C'mon darling." Isaiah coaxed, kissing the top of her head as he gently pushed her towards the door, "Let me get you up stairs, I think it's time to call it a night."
Becca didn't argue, just nodded and let him guide her back through the house and up the stairs to her room.
Without saying a word, Isaiah say her down on the edge of her bed, helping Becca out of her heels before standing up and helping take down her hair as well.
"Ok sweetheart, that should be good enough for now." He said, pulling back the blankets and helping her get situated before covering her up. He probably shouldn't let her sleep in the party dress she had on, but Isaiah didn't want to think about the utter hell her brothers would unleash if they found out he'd helped her change cloths.
"Get some sleep Becs." He murmured, leaning down to kiss her forehead. He started to turn to leave when Becca reached out for his hand.
"Don't go..." The words were quiet and almost broken sounding, "Stay, please."
"Becca..." Isaiah shook his head as he turned back to her, other hand reaching out to stroke her face, "I shouldn't-"
" 'saiah, please." She sat up to look at him, grip tightening a little in desperation, "I don't want to be alone."
.... She really did have him wrapped around her finger....
"Yeah, all right." Isaiah sighed, nodding as he went to remove his jacket, vest and tie, leaving them on a chair along with his shoes, before climbing into the bed onto of the covers, "C'mere love."
Becca immediately turned towards him, head on his chest and an arm thrown across his waist.
Her brothers were going to murder him...
