Do You Believe Me Now?

Chapter 6

Jace and I decided to leave his apartment and give it to the complex furnished. It's been a two months and he still hasn't tried to have sex with me. We're getting a hotel until we find out what we're doing. We flew out and we're in a hotel right on the beach in Dunedin, Florida.

We're at the beach now with Marcus, Travis, Aubrey, and Anthony. My phone vibrates. I pick it up off the blanket. It's a text from Mom.

Mom: mind if we come to you guys for easter?

Me: we don't have a house...

Mom: well maybe we can spend the holiday with one of your friends...?

Me: I'll ask Jace

"Hey babe?" I ask.

Jace pick up Zach because he keeps trying to swim to the water. I stat to later Zach up in sunscreen.

"What are our plans for easter?"

"Uh...I don't know, why?"

"Because my Mom wants to come here with our family."

He eyebrows crease. "We don't have a house."

"That's what I told her."

"You guys can come over for Easter." Travis says.

"Really? I don't want to burden you with our bullshit."

"It's fine." He smiles.

"Okay, I'll tell Mom."

I text her.

Me: you guys can come

I already got Kaden enrolled in school, Plumb Elementary. Since it's Saturday though, he desn't have school.

"Hey." Jace says suddenly.

"What?" I ask

"Look at those birds!"

I look over my shoulder.

"What bir-"

He kisses me when I turn back.

"Kidding." He says.

"Fuck!" some girl gasps. "I'd recognize that fire from anywhere!"

Fire? What fire?

The voice sounds familiar, and-

My thought cuts off and I whip around.

"Dig!" Sabrina gasps.

"Oh my god!" I grin. She hugs me and I hug her back. "Jesus, do you know him?" she eyes Jace.

"He's my husband." I say.

Her jaw drops. "So you've had sex with him?"

I laugh. "Yes."

Sabrina Hobb. She was that girl in high school that everyone hated.

I was her best friend from the first day of kindergarten until high school graduation. She left for college and promised to keep in touch. After a few months, we lost touch and I had my number changed when I left my evil step mothers phone plan.

"How long have you guys been married?" she asks.

"Five years technically but..." Jace trails off.

"it's really hard to explain.

"I'm Jace." Jace sticks out his hand.

"Sabrina."

"Sabrina Hobbs?" he asks. She nods. "I've heard about you quite a bit."
