I sat in the passenger side of Niall’s black range rover. I sat in silence as he spoke on the phone with some mystery person. I think he mouthed ‘management’ when he answered the call, but I was still unsure. I was looking out the window, disregarding the thoughts that passed through my head. Until one thought knocked me out of my trance.

“Shit,” I mumbled under my breath, remembering that I still have no money, and I needed a job. Niall hung up the phone right as I said the profane word.

“What’s wrong ba-,” he was about to finish with ‘babe’, but he corrected himself. “I-I mean Alex.”

I laughed under my breath, “umm, well I have no money… I was supposed to be out looking for a job but I met you instead.”

“You’re kidding, right?” I was confused, of course I’m not kidding.

“No, I’m broke and I only have five months to make enough money to support myself and-” Niall cut me off.

“No! I mean this is perfect!” I looked at him in disbelief, “One of our managers just called me to tell me that one of our back up guitarists just quit,” he looked at me with the most childlike expression, “I heard you playing the guitar in Mike’s, you’re amazing! The job is yours if you want it,” Nialls face lit up in amusement, but I’ve never done anything like this. I couldn’t just leave, could I?

“I really don’t know, I’ve only known you for, what? Four hours?” the color from his eyes began to fade, “It would be an amazing opportunity, I really want to, but I have to think about it,” I mean, that was my first day being a foster child, and I’ve only said about five words to my new guardians.

We hit traffic, and the both of us stayed silent. Niall broke the quiet, “Is it okay if I take you back to the flat I share with the other boys? We’re only five minutes away, but my house is another thirty with all this traffic,” I nodded, I couldn’t help but smile at his accent, did I mention he’s Irish?

We enter the flat, it was stunning. He looked over to me, "I completely understand, about the whole job thing, It's just..." he paused, "It's just I think this is an amazing opportunity for you. I can already tell you want a fresh start and, if you accept the position, you'll have a place to stay for eight months."

I sighed, "This is just happening so quickly, I don't know how to handle it all," my mind took a double take, why am I talking to this stranger about things that I don't even contemplate to myself? I've only known this man for one afternoon and now I might work with him for eight

months? I thought as I tapped my fingers on his granite countertop.

"Whoa-ha-ho, Nialler's gotta lady in the house!" Niall's face turned bright red as a man, who I might add, was very attractive walked down the staircase.

"Shut it Lou,"

This supposed 'Lou' gave a smirk as he opened up the fridge. He pulled out what looked to be leftover take-out,

"Lou I swear, if you eat that-"

"What! You'll throw a hissy-fit like last time?" Lou cut him off and laughed as he pulled out a fork.

The next thing I knew, Niall threw a punch at Lou, who was quick to rebound.

I hated fighting, all it reminded me of was Brett. Brett. His name made me cringe, and the lump in my throat only grew. Before I knew it, tears fell out of my eyes, I wanted to stop, I had to stop.

The both of them were wrestling like children over some stupid leftover Chinese take-out, while I stood there crying like a baby. It was a huge mess, but of course it had to get worse. Another unfamiliar face stumbled down the stairs.

"What the fuck guys?" He yelled at the two boys fumbling over one another in the kitchen. "I hope you guys know that there is a helpless girl here crying her eyes out, while you two are too busy bickering to even notice!" he started to walk over towards me, he lifted my chin to look me straight in the eyes. "Now, I'm not sure whether you're crying because you're a fan, or because these two dumb-fucks," he motioned towards the boys who were now standing, feeling guilty of their actions.

I looked at the three boys standing in front of me, I had no idea what I got myself into. "I-I should just go," I picked up my purse and the guitar , "Thank you, Niall. For everything," I shot him a smile and before he could say anything, I shut the door behind me. Seconds after I left, I felt my phone vibrate. A familiar face lit up the screen.

Nialler xx: I'm so, so, so, so sorry. Lou is just a dickhead sometimes and idk what got over me. Please don't let this affect your decision about the job:(

I giggled when I saw what he put as his name, but I didn't know how to respond, so I replied with the first thing that popped into my head.

Me: No worries, I've just been really emotional these past few days... And I uhh I have a question?

Nialler xx: Yeah, anything, what is it?

Me: Can you drive me home? I have no idea where I am...
