After the executive director left without any more words, Kunikida remained at the same spot. His head was full with thoughts he still couldn't process completely.
So this was the notorious executive director and second-in-command of Port Mafia, Osamu Dazai. The rumor about him being a suicide enthusiast entirely was the truth. Also the fact that he is convinced to be allowed to do as he wishes; that attack on the school made it more than obvious, so his question why he couldn't just kill anyone as he liked.
But he isn't that serious of a person and more like an idiot after all. But what if he just acted as if he is this way?, the detective asked himself feverishly. His threat toward me before his boss called him sounded deadly serious. What was it his boss, the notorious Port Mafia's boss Ougai Mori, told him? Kunikida was half convinced the call was it that caused the change of Dazai's behavior, and perhaps saved him. Who knows how far the unprincipled executive would have possibly gone?
Another issue turned up in his head: Dazai is told to become the next boss of Port Mafia at some point, and that surely for a good reason. So there must be some serious personality traits in him, other than concerning suicidal, hint of a god complex, and unreadable emotions and feelings. It also speaks for my theory he only acted so foolish, or it was only a mood out of many. This thought made Kunikida's skin crawl.
He looked at his watch. It was time for him to return to the agency's office. Hopefully he would get more answers there from the president about everything: the actual case, the new alliance and the executive director.
