Kids stop scrollingIt was their last night in Paris. The shoot had wrapped up, almost, and the team was ready to bid adieu to Paris the next day. Shaurya hadn't reconciled with his family and the financial issues were still unresolved. However, he wanted to make the best of the present moment, especially with the people he cared for. That night, he prepared dinner for Anokhi. Something simple and cute.
She was sitting on the giant bed in his suite, wearing a long white shirt and cute black shorts, ready to be fed on whatever he had prepared. Rarely did Shaurya don the chef's hat, and Anokhi felt quite special. When he brought a tray full of delicacies from the kitchen and kept it on the small table beside the bed, Anokhi's mouth watered at the sight in front of her. She was super hungry.
She tried to pick a piece of the red-cooked meat, but he stopped her.
"No, wait. Let me do the honors, ma'am."
He sat down beside her and fed her from his hands, wiping her face at times with his thumb.
"This is to make up for forgetting your birthday. I hope you liked the food."
"It's delicious Mr. Saberwal," she expressed while relishing a mouthful, eyes closed.
Shaurya smiled. He loved her cute antics. She was such a baby!
After finishing dinner, Anokhi asked him to watch a movie with her. He climbed into the bed beside her and switched on the TV.
"Anything besides rom-coms, Anokhi please!"
"Who told you I like rom-coms?"
"You don't?" Shaurya was surprised. Girls of her age usually liked those stuff.
"I won't be sitting with you here if I liked romantic comedies Shaurya Saberwal."
There, her infamous taunts! She uttered them rarely but when she did, they hurt like hell. He became quiet at once.
"Control Z! It's a good short series. Let's watch it. Ok?"
Shaurya merely nodded and shifted a little as she came closer to him, putting his arm around her shoulder.
After staring at the TV screen silently for a while, Shaurya cleared his throat,
"Anokhi?"
"Hmm?" She didn't look at him though. She was busy watching the episode.
"Wapas jaane ke bad, I will go to Delhi once. I have to find that guy, the guy who wronged you and make him pay."
Anokhi snuggled closer, putting her one leg over his. Shaurya placed his cheek on her head, sniffing at her chestnut brown hair.
"Humara kya hoga wapas jane ke bad Mr. Saberwal?"
Shaurya didn't have an answer. The last few days that changed everything. Whatever he had in his mind initially about Anokhi, the feelings were no longer there. He didn't want to exploit her or even sleep with her like he previously planned. He didn't want to cause her pain. She had already suffered enough in her life. He had made up his mind to let her go, be in her own world, be a shining star and be happy, successful. The girl was obedient, hardworking and a fast learner. He knew that she could achieve great heights in time.
He kissed her on the head, "I don't know Anokhi. I really don't know."
She sat up, facing him this time, "What do you mean that you don't know? Are you planning to move on?"
Shaurya smiled warmly at her. Pinching her nose playfully, he pulled her to him, placing her tiny, confused head on his chest.
Anokhi put her arm across his upper body, trying to wrap him entirely in her embrace. She suddenly felt scared. What would happen if he decided to move on? How would she get rid of her newly-formed habits? She would become lonely again. A few drops of tears landed on his tshirt.
