TW: physical assault

Water droplets trickle the window, drop by drop. The noise is light, soft, it's peaceful. I love rain. Rain forms in the clouds when water vapor condenses into bigger and bigger water droplets, then when it gets heavy enough, it falls to the earth. I feel like a water droplet, I was formed in an angry cloud, I am now falling, going through the motions of my life, and I will one day land. Then I will be evaporated back into the clouds where I can start over. I can be a even bigger, better rain drop. I can be formed in a beautiful cloud that will release me over a field, where I can nurture a blade of grass, or gift a thirsty animal. I will have a purpose. I will finally have reason.

A harsh pounding echoes through the restroom, it's continuous and frantic. My eyes pill apart examining that my body is sprawled out on the bitter ground. The pounding continues, as I make my way to my feet. I don't remember falling asleep, and have no recollection of how long I have trapped myself in here.

"Olivia, OLIVIA it's Scarlet," She states in panic.

"OPEN THE DOOR OLIVIA, please don't make me break this door down-"

"Alright I'm coming in," she lowers her voice, now directing her attention to someone close by, "Hold my heels if they get scuffed, you're dead," her regard now turned back to the bolted door, "You better be dead bitch or i'm most definitely killing you."

I reach the door promptly throwing it open, immediately seeing a mop of blonde curls charging straight at me. We collide, crumbling to the ground. A small chuckle leaves both of our lips as we untwine our bodies. She latches onto my skinny arms to pull me to my feet. Her hands tighten with shock, I peer into her ocean eyes, revealing tears brimming the sides.

"You're eyes- Olivia, what happened?"

I begin to weep uncontrollably. I hate crying. I especially hate crying in front of Scarlet, she will worry, and I never want to be a burden for her.

"I don't know, he- he just looked at me, and all I felt was pain Scarlet. It was excruciating, my insides felt that they were getting melted from the inside out. Then it just stopped, and I had this," I whimper through the sniffles.

"Who Olivia? Who did this to you?" she questions with distress.

Right when his name was about to exit my lips, a women dressed in a tight, jeweled dress enters. Confusion forms on her face as she peers at Scarlet and I's sobbing faces.

"Scarlet is everything good here? The office is closed, and I have a date. You don't need me to hold you're shoes anymore do you?"

"Right, no Andy we are good. Thanks for holding my shoes." Scarlet turns acquiring her stilettos back.

"What time is it? How long have I been here?" I frantically look for a clock, or my phone.

I swear whenever I need that stupid talking device I can never find it.

"It's 6:30, Olivia. I don't know how long you've been in here, but when I didn't find you at your cubby I went looking. You always wait for me to walk out with you. Then I heard you sniffling in the restroom, and when I saw that you locked it I got worried, and here we are."

She searches my eyes trying to read my expression.

"I have to go."

I urgently stride out the restroom to go collect my belongings. My mother would not be happy that I am late returning, after the shock from this morning she would expect be to be home an hour ago.

I make it to my bare desk, and collect my gifted journal, house keys, white headphones, and my phone. My eyes lead to my untouched dessert. If I could go back to my only concern being another birthday, I would have welcomed it with open arms. I throw the untouched treat in the trash, and dart to the elevator.
