Meg was in a bad mood. Tyler was trying to flirt with her, and her best friend was attempting to hook her up with probably some player guy who's just looking for some sex. She clicked open her locker and pulled out math textbooks from the bottom. She struggled to close her locker for there was a dent in the door from earlier students. Meg dropped her books on the ground and slammed the door with all her might.
"God damned door," letting out a heavy breath, she pushed loose strands of hair behind her ear and bent down to pick up her notebooks. When she looked up, she saw a beaming face looking down upon her.
"I've found the perfect guy for you!" Kristine squealed.
"Oh my god, Kristine, leave me alone!" Meg straightened and rushed past Kristine, slightly bumping her shoulder to show that she was not in the mood for this.
"No, no, no! It's different this time!" Kristine pushed.
"That's what you say everytime you 'find me the perfect guy'," Meg used air quotes with her fingers. "Stop trying this crap and leave me alone!"
"Meg," Kristine put one hand on Meg's shoulder and turned her around. "I'm dead serious this time. You need to rethink your romance life. You've never had a boyfriend, and if you don't do something fast, you'll never get one." With her hand still on Meg's shoulder, stared deep into her eyes, as if trying to find Meg's soul and drag it into a relationship.
Meg shrugged off her hand. "Alright, fine. Who's this mystery guy you're so ecstatic to tell me about?"
A grin spread ear to ear on Kristine's face. "Okay, so I was asking around for single guys in our school, and this guy came up." She pulled a folded piece of notebook paper from her shirt pocket and handed it to Meg. Hesitantly, Meg unfolded the paper and read the name at the top.
"Kole?" Meg looked up from the paper and raised an eyebrow at her. "Never heard of the guy."
"We-ell, he's actually a grade older than us," she blushed and exhaled deeply. "One of the hottest Sophomores I've ever seen!" Kristine squealed and covered her face to hide the red.
Meg read the notes Kristine had taken on him on the notebook paper.
"Hot... Really hot.... Scratch that, he's super ho- Kristine this is just you saying how hot he is! How does this tell me anything about him?"
"Okay, LOL that was a joke. Keep reading on the other side," Kristine using her finger to indicate that Meg needed to flip the paper over. Meg whipped the paper around, irritated that Kristine was so serious yet joking at the same time.
"Alright," Meg pushed the paper into her baggy pocket into her loose, boyish pants. "This guys seems nice, I guess?"
Kristine cocked an eyebrow and did a half-grin. "You know you want to meet him. You know you want him. You know you want his bod," she began dancing and pointing to Meg with a playful teasing song. "You know you-"
"Shut up! Yeah, I want to meet him, but that seems kind of creepy..." Meg looked down at her books, contemplating whether or not she should trust Kristine's hooking-up method.
"Trust me, Meg!" Kristine whined, as Meg looked back up wondering how Kristine had read her so well.
"I'll think about it," Meg hesitated before turning around and shuffling off to class.

"Meg!" Mr. Henrison called. "Could you please come to my desk?"
"Oh, shit," Meg whispered. "What did I do this time?" She quietly stepped towards her teacher's desk, her palms starting to sweat. Meg was sure she left nail marks from squeezing so hard.
"Congratulations, Meg! You've been doing so well in Math that we decided to move you up!" Mr. Henrison looked as if he was glowing with proud.
"Oh... Thank you, Mr. Henrison," Meg whispered, hoping not to attract attention from other students in the room.
"Really, I'm very proud of you! Now, for Math class, just head down past the Physics room to the Sophomore Math room!" Mr. Henrison congratulated Meg once more and sent her back to her seat. As Meg walked back to her desk, she could feel the eyes of other students on her. She studied the tiles she was stepping on, thinking to herself , "Sophomore? Isn't that the same as...?"
Once class was over, Meg bolted out of her seat. She rushed down the hallway, past the Physics room, and braked at the Sophomore Math. It looked so big, and seemed to loom over her. Suddenly a boy stepped out of the room, his head down, looking at his shoes, and nearly ran into Meg.
"Jesus! Oh, hey!" He beamed. "Who are you?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Oh! Uhm... Hi, I'm Meg, and I was moved up to this class. I just wanted to make sure I knew where the classroom was," Meg lied through her toothy grin. The truth was that she wanted to see if Kole was in this class.
"Cool! Welp, hey, Meg! Nice to meet you! I'm Kole," he stuck out his hand and Meg gingerly took it and her hand shook up and down until she finally let go.
"I'm going to get going, now. I guess we'll be in the same class from now on, so see ya!" He stepped past her and continued down the hall.
Meg stared him down, watching him disappear around the hall corner.
She blushed and looked down. Was this love and first sight?
