First day being a Junior. Great.

I forced myself out of my bed, slowly walking towards my closet.

"What to wear..." I scanned through my options. A plaid red flannel was placed to my right. "No." I slid the flannel down the rack, pulling the next shirt closer. "Oh, this could work." I picked up a white sweater, and tossed it on my bed. "Now.." I managed to slip out before my yawn. "..pants." I walked over to my dresser, and slid out the second drawer. Jeans, sweats, and leggings. That's all I had. I glanced over at the sweater I had picked out to wear today, then back at my pant options, sticking my hand in and pulling out a pair of black ripped jeans.

"Perfect!" I looked in the mirror, and couldn't help but smile with how happy I was with my first-day-of-school outfit choice. I quickly slipped on my Air Forces, and headed to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, I applied a bit of eyeliner on my waterline, then set my eyeliner pencil down and started on mascara.

Finally, 10 minutes later, I finished my makeup, brushed my teeth, and threw my wavy dark hair up into a low, messy bun. I exited the bathroom and sharply turned the corner, trotting down the stairs, and into the kitchen. "Do you want anything for breakfast, Laurence?" I called into the living room, where Laurence was currently watching an episode of Adventure Time. "A waffle?" His voice was low, I could tell he was very interested in his show. "Coming right up, L!" I pulled the toaster out from under the stove, setting it on the counter and turning to the fridge to get a waffle. Just as I did so, the door bell rang. "I've got it!" Laurence called. "Oh.. okay." I replied, confused as to who would be here this early. Dad was out at work already, he left us a note on the counter. It read, 'Sorry sweetheart, I had to go to work early today and won't be back until about 9. Noah should be over to help you out.'

"Noah!" Laurence shouted from the other room. I shook my head, falling back into the moment. "Of course," I whispered to myself, "how could I not have known it was Noah." "Hey, little man!" I could hear the smirk on Noahs face as he spoke to Laurence, so happy to see him again. It warmed my heart so much, and I couldn't help but crack a small smile. I took the waffle from the fridge and shut the door, placing the frozen waffle into the toaster. "Chey?" Noah called out. "In the kitchen!" I spun around to face the direction of the living room, which I saw Noah walk around the corner and into the kitchen. I couldn't help but throw myself onto him, flinging my arms around him. "I missed you!" I said, letting out a relieved sigh.

Noah has just gotten back from his summer vacation, he went to visit his grandfather in Hawaii. He goes there to visit every year. Last year, Laurence and I went as well, but we were too busy to go this year.

"I missed you more, Chey." His arms wrapped tighter around me before pulling away. I turned back to the waffle, which had popped out of the toaster, looking delicious, and smelling delicious. I quickly picked it up and set it on a plate. "Laurence, your waffle is ready! I have to get to school. Mrs. Higgins should be over to watch you soon." I turned to Noah and smiled before reaching down to grab my backpack. "Thanks sissy!" Laurence called as I walked through the living room, Noah following close behind.

"Somebody was up early." Noah shot a quick glance in my direction before opening the car door, signaling for me to get in. "And somebody decided they're a gentleman today." Noah's cheeks tinted a light pink, as he rolled his eyes and hopped into his own seat. "It's nice to have a personal chauffeur." I laughed and glanced at Noah. "Only for you, Chey." He cracked a small smile, laughing along with me.

I connected my phone to his car, flipping through songs, trying to decide what to listen to for the last five minutes of our drive. "THIS." I shouted, Noah's gaze met mine. "Seriously? We've listened to Too Late eighteen times this week, Chey. That's the only thing I heard on facetime with you." Too Late was my favorite song, sang by my favorite band—Chase Atlantic. "Oh, whatever! I love this song!" I turned the volume up to 15, which for, his car, was pretty loud, and I rolled down my window. "You're going to cause a scene when we reach the courtyard!" Noah yelled to me, face-palming. I rolled my window up, and turned the music down as we neared the parking lot of Florence High School.

Noah and I started towards the door, my backpack heavy with books ready for the semester. Can't we go back home? I don't want to be here." I groaned, looking over at Noah, who was running his hands through his messy brown hair. "I wish, but unfortunately, summer break is over." He pushed open the glass doors, making sure he held one open for me. I blushed slightly and smiled at him. "Have a good first day, Chey." Noah let the door close behind him before he gently planted a friendly kiss on my cheek. "You too, Noah!" I waved at him as I watched him walk back through the doors, heading over to the building the seniors were taught in.

I turned around, ready to head to my first class, but when I did so, everyone was staring at me.

All eyes were on me.
