Jazz and I didn't hang out much that day. We went to my house, she dropped me off and was treated like a hero by my mother, and then left. didn't get a text from her until late, either. I guess we were both trying to process what had happened in that hospital room. I ran my hand over my scar, remembering how she refused to leave me alone hat first night to make sure i was okay. I went and took a shower, and an idea hit me. I looked at the clock. "It's only 8:30," I said to myself. "I think it would work." I get dressed in some nice clothing (no button-up or anything, but no stains or tears either), then get in my car and make the 10 minute drive to the store. I bought a bouquet of flowers and sat there.
'Get dressed, I'm coming to get you,' I texted Jasmine.
after a few seconds I got a text back: 'Where are we going?' She asked me.
'That's a surprise ;) you have 10 minutes,' I said before putting my phone down and start the car. I drove to her house, opting for non-R5 music. i was listening to Fallout Boy, specifically the songs 'Centuries', 'Uma Thurman', and 'The Phoenix'. I got there, but I waited for a minute before going to the door. I was nervous, there was not hiding that. After a few minutes, I got out and walked to the door. I knocked, and her mother answered.
"Your friend is here, dear!" She shouted.
"I'll be right down," Jasmine said back. "He came to pick me up."
Her mother saw the flowers in my hand and I put a finger to my lips as though I wanted her to stay quiet about them. She just looked at me with a scene of joy on her face. When Jasmine came downstairs, I hid the roses behind my back. Damn that girl looked amazing. She could make a blind man whistle, I swear. Instead of revealing my pure awe, I decided to play it cool.
"How do you expect to go out looking like that and stay with me instead of having every guy all over you?" I asked her, messing with her.
"I'll have you, my big strong protector," she said, clinging to my arm. Her hand brushed the roses and she looked startled. "What was that?" She asked, raising an eyebrow in a quirky way. I pull the roses out and present them to her.
"For my knight in valiant beauty," I said, bowing on one knee in front of her, taking her hand and kissing the back of it.
"Oh my..." She said, blushing. I stood, setting the flowers on the table, and wrapping her in a hug. After a moment, she put her hands on my cheeks, pulled my face close to hers, and kissed me with a passion that could never be matched. I happily kissed her back.
Jazz was still kissing me and her mother just looked, wide eyed. "When did this come to be?" She asked with an eyebrow raised herself. Jasmine pulled away slowly and just blushed.
"well?" Her mother asked again. "I'm curious."
"In the hospital earlier.. it's a long story and we're gonna be late if we wait around any longer," I said, beginning to blush like Jasmine. I took her hand in mine, lacing our fingers together.
"Fine, but you two will tell me when you get back," She insisted, half joking and trying not to seem mad, upset, or just strict. I lead Jazz to the door, opening it and leading her to my car, still holding her hand in hand. I open her door for her, then run over to my own side and get in. As I start the car, 'She will be loved' by Maroon 5 came on.
"How convenient?" Jasmine says as the song starts, and i begin singing.
"I don't mind spending every day, standing on your corner in the pouring rain. Look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay a while," I sand quietly to Jasmine. She blushed, putting her hand in my lap.
"I love your singing," she said smiling and blushing.
"And I've always loved yours," I said, smiling as well.
"So what is this place you're taking me?"
"It's a surprise, dear."
"Dear, huh?" She laughed. "Would you just tell me?"
"Nope, you'll have to see." She sighed as we reached the first part of our destination. We pulled into a driveway. there was just one tiny shack, and a trail into the woods.
"What is this?" She asked.
"You'll see!" I said again, raising my voice a bit this time. I tuned the car off, leaving the headlights on, and walked to the shed. I unlock it, walk in and sit on a piece of equipment. I stick a key in its key hole, turn it, and it roars to life. I back it out of the shed and Jasmine looks at me in amazement.
"What crazy thing do you have planed?!?" She asked.
"Just get on and hold on tight," I tell her, reving the quad a bit. After a few minute drive through the woods, we come to a moon-lit clearing, no signs of other civilization anywhere.
"This is beautiful..." She said in further amazement as I tuned off the quad and we got off. We walked over and sat in the grass, looking up at the night sky. She cuddled close to me. "I love this," She said quietly, giving me a kiss on the cheek. I cupped her chin gently in one of my hands.
"Good, because I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else," I said to her. Then I kissed her, long and passionately, pulling her closing, letting her cuddle to me afterwards.
