It was a Monday morning when you arrived back in town , you settled into your old home which you successfully got back.

Peter will be at school you think as your eyes skim across his front door.

You had missed him with every bone in your body, you missed your best friend.

Wandering around boxes in hand your eyes gaze across the doorway with markings up and down the doorframe. Placing the box down you approach the door and trace your fingers on the markings of you and Peter's heights over the years. A smile creeps across your face as your mind fills with the memories that filled the house of you both.

"y/n", your mother says as she stops behind you hands full,

"yeah mum what's up?" you say turning and meeting your eyes to hers.

"I just want you to know , we didn't want this to happen this way. Your dad unfortunately just messed with the wrong people. But we will be okay, just please know we are sorry", your mum says extending her arms to hug you with tears in her eyes.

All these years they have non stopped apologised for doing what they did, but in your eyes they wanted to protect you so you never held it against them.

"I know mum and its okay, you just wanted to keep me safe", you say entering her arms and pulling her into a tight embrace.

"Now go , I know you want to " she says.

You let go of the hug and smile, turning on your heels and bolting out the door to across the street as fast as possible.

You find yourself at his door , hand ready to knock yet you couldn't find yourself able to do so.

"It's May y/n, you are gonna be okay", you repeat to yourself as you persuade yourself to knock.

"Coming" , you hear a voice scream from the other side of the door.

The door swings open revealing a older woman , teatowl in hands and her glasses lightly perched on the end of her nose.

Her eyes meet yours and her mouth falls open, all you could think to yourself is

"i am finally home".

"Y/n?" she fraily says with tears forming as she reaches for your hands.

"Hi May", is all you could say as you pull her into a hug.

May, was like another mother to you and helped raise you when your mum and dad were working.

You both stood there in silence as the shock and happiness filled your body.

She pulled you inside, still flabergasted and unable to let the words fall freely out of her mouth .

Leading you the kitchen you gaze across the mantle pieces as you see photos of you and Peter planted across every corner of the mantle piece.

You place yourself down beside May at the kitchen table, her still in shock.

"How-How are you y/n?" she says grabbing your hands from across the table.

"Much better now May, are you doing okay? I am so sorry, i heard about uncle Ben", you say meeting your eyes to her glassy ones.

"Trying to do better" she says.

"I am so happy to see you y/n , I'm glad you are home" May says cheerfully as she tries to move the subject.

"Me too May , me too" you say smiling.

You explain to May what happened to you and talk for a while...

After:

"May, I hope you can keep this visit secret for now! I'd like to suprise Peter tomorrow myself" you say as you stand in the doorway.

"Of course", May says handing you a dish of meatloaf for your family.

"Ill see you around Aunt May" You say as you walk away from the door.

I really hope Peter recognises and wants to see me tomorrow....
