"Are you alright?"
Hyunjin asked as he bent down and lended a hand out, intending to help him up. His voice was somewhat concerned, but the coldness of it still remained.
"I stumbled on my own steps, i'm sorry"
He replied unwillingly in a low undertone, didn't even bother to answer the question that was given to him, nor did he accept the hand that was snaking out. For sure, this person was none other than Yang Jeongin, but the other latter did not know of that just yet.
As the time goes, Jeongin's left hand was secretly playing behind his own back, cautiously pushing something on the floor that was pitch black in color, shining bright.
Hyunjin's phone.
Unfortunately, the owner already saw everything through right at that moment. A dark, yet gentle smile slowly came curling up on Hyunjin's fine sculpted lips, "That's my phone" he marked.
He watched the blond's fox slanted eyes flinched a little, the curtain of his lashes trembled as if he was thinking of a problem. Then, Jeongin nodded once and acted like he just came to his realization, forcing out a small 'oh' afterwards.
'Act weak.' He told himself.
"It might've fallen when i bumped into you. Here, please take it back. I hope it's not damaged, I..can't afford to fix it. Sorry." He said, his voice was soft and was very soothing to the ears.
As he spoke, he clumsily took the phone out of its previous hiding place and put it on the palm of Hyunjin's hand, which was originally waiting for his grasp.
The taller male just gazed down upon that one belonging of his in his hold without any particular expression hung up on his face. Only curiosity on his mind.
Although he knew that it was none of his business for him to care about some random strangers, his first meeting with this guy was already odd.
He had some questions, such as;
'what happened to you?'
Or,
'why do you look like you just came out of a lion cage?'
Or,
'where did your shoes go?'
Or,
'fuck, you tried to pick pocket my phone but still miserably failed?'
The last question was not really a question. Instead, it came out more like words of mockery. Maybe it was because of his nature, but he really wanted to say it out in this timid one's face.
Despite all that, Hyunjin just smiled faintly and said;
"Well, that coat worth some big dollars so what are you saying?" He chuckled softly but Jeongin just pulled out a bitter smile.
"but don't worry, it's unscratched" 'of course, because it was gracefully stolen by you, not thrown out.'
To tell the truth, Hyunjin quite despised uncleanness. Seeing that Jeongin was still on the floor with the possiblity of forgetting to rise up, his eyes darkened in slight disgust and disdain.
Just when he wanted to say "get up, the floor's dirty", he heard a man scolded from behind him as he walked towards the two of them.
"There you are. Son of a bitch, what were running off like that for?! The restroom is that way. Such a nuisance. You're lucky Mr. Gwan has his eyes on you, or else i'd...-"
The guy's words instantly faded in quick silence when he finally got to the spot he was heading to. Hyunjin thought that this guy was probably one of Yuwon's subordinates.
Perhaps, he finally realized that it was his infamous upperclassman who was standing there together with the person he just called a nuisance, he quickly put on a polite face and bowed to him slightly.
"Mr. Hwang. Good morning. I'm, please excuse my vulgarity just now."
"It's all good" Hyunjin replied.
Seeing that Jeongin finally proceeded himself to get up from the ground in an anxious and nervous manner, and that Hyunjin was also there in front of him, the subordinate finally came to the conclusion that these people had had a bad encounter.
And he believed that the younger had disturb the latter. His face darkened rapidly by half. He quickly reached out for his arm in a harsh way.
"You! What did you do? Get the fuck here rig-"
Before he could even finish his sentences, his hand was stopped by Hyunjin's gentle tap, signing that he didn't need to do what he was about to.
"I said it's all good,"
He paused as he worked his palms to land on Jeongin's coated shoulders and calmly pursued him to rise up.
Once he was on his feet, Jeongin was already pretty composed when Hyunjin decided to be the one to help. However, he felt a sudden touch on his nape, which made his pupils distorted by an inch.
"--just don't be too harsh on him in front of me. I don't really like the sight" Hyunjin said as he gave the 'nuisance' to the harsh subordinate. His right hand was casually making its way to his trousers pocket.
"Yes, sir. My apologies"
The raven haired Hyunjin lifted his head up slightly to take a second look on Jeongin that was now standing behind the subordinate.
Only that way could he see that the other was full of uneasiness, trying so hard to avoid his cold gaze by lowering his head to the nothingness of the floor, as if he was a bad omen. If you stare too long, bad luck would be on your side, perhaps.
Hyunjin just smiled, that didn't really look like a smile. He turned to the black cladded man in front of him.
"While you're here, tell me where Yuwon is" He demanded flatly.
"Mr. Gwan is having a meeting on the second floor. You're gonna have to wait in about fifteen more minutes. Do you need me to bring you to the private guest room while waiting?" The man obediently asked, but he got a hand wave as an answer.
"No need." He replied before continuing, "Go. See you later"
The man was stunned at first because of what was told. See who later? As far as he had known, this upperclassman above him had never wished for such a thing.
He was known for his cold, loner and unapproachable personality while everyone seemed to look up at him as if he was a deity. So..does this mean his lowly self was invited to be a friend? Oh.
The guy grinned widely and nodded before leaving, dragging Jeongin away with him.
As they walked, what they didn't know was that Hyunjin's eyes were on one person's leaving back, watching as he flew away silently. Making sure that they were gone, he leisurely pulled his right hand out that was previously hiding in the pocket.
He looked at the item on his palm. In his hand was dangling a metal necklace, illuminating bright glows under the lights across the ceiling.
There was a pendant hanging low, only that it was just a lonely piece of solid black ring that was made out of real gemstone. Engraved on it was a word; Return. The font was in italic, cursive in style.
Under that gaze of the unfamiliar stealer, the necklace was swaying rather slowly and pitiful.
