Her uniform was pin-straight. His hair was as messy as always. Her brown eyes were wide and curious. His smirk radiated confidence and power.
The first day at UA was upon them both.
Uraraka found the school to be massive and overwhelming, the confidence that she had willed into herself on the train journey here was slowly disappearing. The metallic gates loomed over her, making her feel small and insignificant, undeserving to be here despite passing her entrance exam with decent marks.
The memories of the entrance exam brought the image of a slight boy with green hair and freckles. His memorable cheeriness caused an involuntary smile to spread on Uraraka's face.
"That's right." She murmured to herself, "If I can just see if he is here..."
Still hesitant to touch the gate, she went on her tiptoes to get a better look at all the students that were passing to enter their new, or in some cases old, school where they would all learn to become heroes. To achieve their dreams.
Along the most recognisable people was Todoroki's half red, half white head and Mina's candy floss coloured figure. Uraraka remembered how the girl had been so helpful, her smile almost as contagious as Midoriya's.
Yet, before she could recognise anyone who might be potentially in her class a commotion broke the excited charter and many pairs of eyes turned to somewhere near the entrance. Uraraka's eyes followed the sounds that she guessed were shoutings.
"What are you doing here, quirk-less Deku!" The words were more of an accusatory shout rather than a question, but at least Uraraka was able to finally locate Midoriya.
There he was with his green hair, freckled face, yellow backpack and ridiculous tie. His face was blanched white as he opened and closed his mouth, forming the words with his lips but no sound coming out. Quirk-less? What was that supposed to mean?
And then Uraraka set her eyes on the cause of Midoriya's distress. The boy was tall and muscular, his arms filling out the blazer sleeves with every movement. His fingers looked sturdy and his hands rough. His uniform was wrongly worn, his trousers low on his hips and the tie was missing completely. An undone button at the top of his white school shirt completed the look. His stance alone screamed importance, and his powerful build portrayed diligence and many hours spent working out. Uraraka willed her eyes to roam his face. He was slightly tanned with an angular jaw and straight nose. His hair was a mess of blonde spikes as if he had ran his hands through in the morning and called it a job done. His eyes, Uraraka noted, were deep red. A colour so unique that she was transfixed on them, tracking their movement with her own as his seethed in anger. He didn't take his eyes off Midoriya, or did so only to roll them at the boy.
She found the blond boy utterly magnificent. She would have swallowed her fear and spoken to him right then and there, but all that dedication dissipated as a truly terrifying expression took over the boy's handsome face.
"Nothing to say shitty Deku?" Now that he wasn't shouting Uraraka could hear a deep baritone to his voice. He had a mature and deep-set voice to complement his body. "Stop looking like fucking fish and get the fuck away from here. This is a school only for the best of us."
His smirk radiated confidence, but his eyes held such anger that Uraraka took an unconscious step back despite being far away already.
"Wow that guy is intense." Uraraka heard a boy with yellow hair say from somewhere in front of her.
"I think I just pissed myself." A small boy next to the other said. Uraraka placed him as Mineta, the pervert that had tried to follow one of the other girls home after the entrance exam, loudly proclaiming his love despite only meeting the girl a few hours earlier. Uraraka hoped that she won't have him in her class, that's for sure.
