Chapter 3

Diana's eyebrows raised as she watched her assistant suddenly barge into her office.His face a mask of panic.

"What happened?"she asked.He was sweating like he just ran a marathon.

"Miss Mills....is back.She's on her way up here"he said catching his breath.

"What?!....Who?—Regina???!!!"Diana shot up from her seat,alarm flashing across her face.

"Are you sure?"he gave her a firm nod."Front desk sent the warning.

"Oh god, Emma! where is Emma? She can't meet Regina,not now"Diana immediately ran out of her office hoping she could get to Emma before Regina does,but when they got there it was already too late.

"Reg—ina! Welcome back! Why didn’t you call me? I could’ve picked you up at the airport.” Katherine flashed a wide smile, though a flicker of tension showed in her eyes.

"Why? Did you expect me to stay away forever?” She stepped closer, her gaze piercing. “I hope whatever you’ve been hiding hasn’t gotten too comfortable in my absence.”

"Huh? I don't follow?who are you talking about?"Diana covered her face with her hand. She doesn't know if Katherine was acting or really clueless.

Regina's mind raced with irritation"Really, Kath? I’m talking about her! That insufferably clumsy and utterly tactless blonde!” But instead of voicing her thoughts about Emma, she fixed Katherine with a steely gaze “So who is she?" Regina asked coolly.“You know I won’t tolerate any surprises. Don’t act like you’re not aware.”

"She's...referring to......Emma" Diana said faking a cough in between her sentences.

"Reg...Please don't get mad— she's your new executive assistant"

"NEW WHAT?!!!"she raged.Diana tried to open her mouth to salvage the situation but she knew better not to.

Regina, you need an assistant,” Katherine said, her voice tinged with urgency. “Trying to do everything on your own is a recipe for disaster. If the media finds out you’re running solo, they’ll jump at the chance to spin it into a crisis narrative. We can’t let them have that kind of leverage.”

Katherine watched Regina intently, knowing how fiercely she guarded her image. The tension in the air crackled as she pressed on, “Your reputation is everything. Don’t let stubbornness put it at risk.”

"FINE!! hire all idiots that you want the hell I care.I can just fire them the second they made a mistake BUT Katherine out of all people the best that you can find is her?"Katherine arched her eyebrows confused and Emma grimaced at how Regina thinks so lowly of her.

"Hold on a second...."Regina walked out before Kath could finish her sentence.

"Reg wait"Kath ran after her.Diana also followed whispering to Kath "I told you this is a bad idea."

After Regina stormed off, Emma was left to handle all the awkward stares from people.

"Emma are you okay?"Steph approached her.

"I guess?"she replied unsure."that was intense"

"Have you known Miss Mills from before"Steph asked because the way Regina despises Emma that looks personal.

"I'm afraid we had an unpleasant encounter on the plane I.....don't know.I don't remember ever seeing her. By the way am I fired?"Emma looked at Steph she wants to get over the drama and move on.

"Katherine you have my number,you have all the means to tell me.You should have confided with me before you decided to hire someone to be my EA"

"If I told you beforehand, it won't make any difference, you had already said no before I could even tell you.I know you hate blondes but Reg..she's exceptional"Regina snapped her head at Kath baffled.
