" I LOVE YOU. " The girl cried, in an attempt to stop the man before her to do the inevitable. She could only hope that she would be enough to stop him.
A flash of pain flashed across Wilbur's face— too quick to be seen by most, but not her.
The man before her was insane— he was hurting. She was sure if it. It wasn't him who was doing this, she reassured herself.
But she knew she was only lying to herself. And that button— that dreaded button that plagued her nightmares every time she lay her head down— she couldn't stop it.
She was only delaying his actions. To destroy his country— she remembered what he'd call it, now.
His unfinished symphony.
He was too far gone, the girl knew it. He'd already made up his mind. It was like the world had made up its mind from the day L'Manburg was created.
It was never meant to be.
A nation, only meant to cause disparity and pain.
She felt tears leave her eyes at an alarming rate. She remembered when Eret had betrayed L'Manburg. But nothing could compare to this betrayal.
Wilbur— she loved him, she truly did. She helped him create the Drug Van, she fought against Dream and his allies during the rebellion, when they held an election, she voted for them, when they got exiled, she followed them—
As much as she didn't want to admit it, she still loved him.
Love— the worst sickness. It finds its way to you— no matter what circumstances. Everyone lets it in, at some point. Wilbur— she could only wish she didn't love him, but it wasn't that simple.
She followed him, and couldn't stop him when she saw him doing something wrong. She watched him spiral into madness, but all she could do was remain on the sidelines. It was a trap— she was confined by the prison that love had entrapped her in.
