'Not much longer' Aline thought as she walked through the halls heading to her first class of the day. 'Not much longer' it was her mantra. She barley spoke to anyone these days. Her only friends were izzy and axl and after they left she had no one. Even the boys she use to sleep with stopped flirting with her do to the ring hanging around her neck. Not that she minded much she didn't want any of them anyways.
The only person that talked to her still was Justin. Justin was a tall jock with a wild mess of short blonde curls. He moved to Lafayette the year after izzy left and it seems like nobody clued him in on alines relationship or he was just to stupid to take the hint.
Speak of the devil.
"Hey blondie"
"Fuck off Justin I am not in the mood today"
"Quite the mouth on such a pretty thing. Still engaged to this unknown guitarist who lives in LA" He said raising his eyebrow.
"What do you think" aline rolled her eyes walking past him. He fell into step next to her.
"I think he doesn't exist. I think you just tell me this to play hard to get. What's the chances some guitarist trying to Make it big in LA would sign himself away to his high-school sweetheart?"
"You don't know me and you definitely don't know izzy leave me alone Justin" aline hissed walking faster.
Suddenly he grabbed her arm getting angry. He pulled her flush against his body his hand grabbing the necklace. "You'd look much prettier with out this and maybe you should try smiling too"
Aline shoved him hard feeling the necklace snap from around her neck. The ring flying across the crowded hall. "Get the fuck off me you arrogant dick!" She screamed.
Justin looked taken back. "Chill I was just kidding"
Aline shoved him again hard. "Look what you did!" She held up the broken chain looking around frantically trying too see if she could spot the silver ring. Most kids had stopped in the hall looking at them.
"What's going on here" a voice yelled. Aline turned to find the principle standing there. "Ms. Fhara my office now!"
"Aline you have 2 weeks until graduation did you really need to go and start problems" the principal, Mr Walter said. After they got into his office. It was a dark room with no natural lighting and not much personalization besides a picture of a miserable looking women and an even more miserable looking kid.
"This is stupid" aline stated sitting in the uncomfortable hard plastic chair. "He was the one who wouldn't let go of me. He lost my fucking ring. That's really fucking important to me"
"Langue... what does the ring look like I'll have someone go look for it" Mr. Walter said.
"It's a silver ring. It has jeffery isbel engraved in it"
"I'll have the janitors keep an eye out for it"
From their on aline tuned him out as he ranted about how she should have used her words instead of getting physical. Aline was just glad when he finally released her.
She didn't bother going to class instead she walked out fishing a pack of cigarettes out of her backpack and started the 25 minute walk home.
Once back inside her room she started writing out a letter explaining what happened. She ended it with: 'iz I need you now -aline'
