TW: Manipulation, Yandere behaviour such as Stalking, Smut, Crying

The Marks were viewed as status in your society. Once you become of age a mark would appear on your wrist, matching the one on your soulmate. You seemed to be a late bloomer, it wasn't until you were well past your eighteenth birthday that a mark began to appear. Most people sought out their partners, travelling around, even posting pictures on websites to ease the search. Which you did, posting an image on a few websites wondering if you'd ever get a match. But the notification never came.

Months went by, you just wished that your soulmate would turn up and sweep you away. It was a childish dream, but you were tired of waiting. With wondered when the mystery person would show up. Your parents told you to relax, go out, that eventually, you two would meet. Soulmates tend to have an odd way of always finding each other even when they don't mean to. So here you were, in a bar casually sipping a drink and chatting away with your friends. Slowly one by one they left, either with one another or when their partner came to get them. Till you were waiting with your friend for her ride and yours. Then just you, that was until a handsome tall man made his approach to you. He was dressed in a dress shirt, tight against his frame. Showing off his muscular arms. Casual dress pants to match. Your admiring didn't go unnoticed by the man. "You waiting for a ride, dear?" Normally a strange man talking to you outside a bar was something that made you uncomfortable. But something about him drew you into him. Making your heart pound in your chest. The feeling was intense, like nothing you had ever felt before. Attempting to get a glimpse of his wrist to see his mark gained you nothing. He had to of seen your wrist, yours was gladly on display. You had even made sure to turn your wrist towards him. When his eyes glanced down, he said nothing.

The conversation continued as you waited for your ride. It was pleasant, it turns out he was visiting the city. The little survival instincts you had was enough for you to not give out your full name or number. Unfortunately, getting into the car to leave you believed this would be your last instance of seeing the man named Chrollo.

As you left Chrollo watched your car disappear down the street. A smile crept across his face as you disappeared. You were sweet, maybe a bit too trusting, but hey. At least you had some common sense with not giving him too much information. That doesn't matter. He has other means to get all of that. To learn everything he wishes about you. After all the mark on your wrist that matched he proved you two were meant to be, no matter what.

The only thing that he worried over was that you didn't seem to feel anything when he approached you. Or perhaps you hid it well. All these thoughts cycle through his mind as you made your way home.

The days passed, continuing your regular schedule. Yet the man from the other night wouldn't leave your head. His look, his voice, it all just drew you in. As foolish as it sounded, it felt like you two were connected. But if that was true, then Chrollo would have said something about your mark. It was silly, it all was just some strange crush. As much as you were absorbed in the mysterious stranger, you were oblivious to what was happening at your home. While you were out, the man occupying your thoughts was making visits. Studying everything he found. Your decor, the food you kept in the fridge, the books on the shelves. Chrollo was keeping tabs on everything he could. He wanted to ensure you were happy with him when he finally took you. After all, you two were soulmates, but it would be best for you to relax for a bit while he finishes his work in town. Until then, a few articles of your clothing and pictures should hold him over.

These thoughts and questions ran through your head over and over. Distracting you from where you were walking. Causing you to bang into someone. Spilling your drink all over the floor. Luckily missing yourself and the person. "Oh, shit" Looking up you were met with the same dark eyes from all those nights before. You were frozen on the spot. "Oh well hello again." Looking down at your spilt drink he offered to buy you a new one. No matter how much you insisted on it being your fault he didn't seem to care.
