Chapter 1
The flames consumed his home. Laughs were had but were quickly extinguished by the tension that pulled at the weak strings of a once unbreakable bond. What started as a harmless prank, became corrupted by a caustic ambition that would change the course of an entire nation and its people. Walls encroached upon the land, causing the embers of conflict to reignite with the spark of a fatal mistake. It was either compromise or the destructive nature of war that could resolve the adversity the people within the walls were about to confront.
Atop the unsolicited barrier stood the inhabitants of both spaces that were now separated between a recovering nation and those of the vast plains surrounding it. Heavy footsteps of an individual dressed in his finest formalwear thumped hesitantly against the compacted obsidian, slowly approaching the man by which the walls had been constructed. He stood there as if knowing exactly what was going to happen. Holding tight to the igneous rock in one hand, and a shield in the other, a nearly undetectable self-assured expression grew beneath the smile that concealed is true intentions. There was only one thing standing in his way: The child who started it all. He stood just past his best friend with an unwavering expression of confidence in his comrade. Though it was clear that he believed that his efforts were noble, they were ultimately the cause of all the conflict and bloodshed everyone had faced. Gazes met, and a decision had to be made.
Luckily, it wasn't much longer until the president would present his choice to the perceived enemy. The armored man's smile grew ever more prevalent. All he had to do now was begin raising a newly reborn nation while it was still young.
"Tubbo, I trust you," he stated, "you're the best leader that L'manburg has ever had. You've always made the best decisions for L'manburg as a gracious leader and I trust that whatever decision you came to is the best one for it."
The president hesitated. A peal nervous laughter erupted from Tubbo as he did everything that he could to mask his anxious expression.
"Heh, ya know, this is funny actually..."
He redirected his gaze towards his best friend.
"I'm sorry, Tommy, I'm sorry-"
"Dream, you-" Tommy interrupted.
Tubbo glanced at his friend, stopping him dead in his sentence. He began to approach Tommy with reluctance.
"Tommy..." He nervously muttered. Shaking nervously, Tubbo placed his hand on Tommy's shoulder and spoke, "I am so, so, so sorry."
A firm yet oddly unsettling grip quickly devolved into a limp hand falling from Tommy's shoulder. Tommy's once composed gaze now anxiously followed his friend's arm, watching it swing as Tubbo turned back around to confront Dream. With a deep breath and a heavy sigh, Tubbo lifted his head and voiced the conclusion he had at last come to:
"Dream," he stated, "I have come to the decision that I know will be best for the nation, the most logical thing to do..."
His sentences began to slur together, and the tension grew between every passing moment. L'manburg's allies, Fundy and Quackity, stood in utter silence, as the anticipation grew ever more dreadful to handle. Dream too, stood there listening attentively, waiting for the time to come. Then, with a sudden self-assured tone in the utmost clarity, Tubbo declared the unthinkable:
"...the most logical thing to do...
...is for Tommy to be...
...exiled from L'manburg."
A great shock ran through the likes of Tubbo's allies who all let out a gasp that made it seem as though their breaths had been sucked out by a powerful vacuum.
