I stared at her for quite a few long seconds. I couldn't believe it. How had she come back? And what happened to hello?
"You're alive," I said weakly.
"Yep, pretty sure I am," Georgina nodded. "I'm breathing, I've got a heartbeat and I can still feel brick dust on the back of me head."
"You've gone more Cockney," I said, laughing slightly. Georgina frowned, brushing dust from her head.
"So?" she said. "I was born in London, y'know. Sort of."
"Sort of?"
"North London, I guess. A posher area."
"Ah," I said, smiling. "That explains why you freak out if people use incorrect grammar."
"So do you," she snapped back. I grinned and spread my arms wide.
"But I'm a god," I said innocently. "I'm allowed to be a posh toff."
"No you're not," Georgina muttered grumpily. "I'm in charge so what I say goes."
"I brought you back to life," I argued. "So I'm in charge of you."
"So?"
"So I can do whatever I want and say whatever I want and you can't tell me off." My smile grew at Georgina's outraged look.
"Do... what?" she asked suspiciously, one hand curled into a fist. I shrugged, moving forwards so slowly with the shadows it was barely noticeable.
"Oh, I don't know," I said breezily. "Maybe... this?" I wrapped my arms around her in a massive hug and she yelped, trying to wriggle free. I held her tight and spun her around in a circle, laughing my head off. She was yelling something but I ignored her. I think it was...
"Shaade, you eejit, put me down!" she screamed in my ear. I laughed even louder and finally set her on the floor, shaking with laughter, joyous tears rolling over my flushed cheeks. I was probably the happiest I'd ever been because realisation had just hit me.
"You're alive!" I shouted back, not releasing my hold. Georgina tried to duck free, knocking my arm aside. I picked her up again and swung her around and then started to dance in a circle, dragging her after me. I sprang around the room, using shadows to give me extra height when I jumped. All the while Georgina was being pulled behind me and I was spinning her around in a circle, dancing some sort of jive. I was too elated to know what I was doing.
After three minutes of dancing, jumping and shouting I crashed to the floor, finally running out of energy. Georgina fell beside me and I hugged her again. She elbowed me in the face and I felt blood trickle from my nose but I didn't care. I sat up, tugging Georgina up too. I wrapped my arms around her again and rested my head on her shoulder. She turned her head and stared at me in shock for several seconds. I couldn't stop grinning or giggling.
"Have you had Smarties?" she asked. "You seem hyper."
"I'm happy," I murmured, curling up beside her and closing my eyes, still smiling like a lunatic. "Happy you're alive."
"Yeah, I got that," she said, slowly pushing me away. "Now that we have confirmed that I am indeed living again can you let me go?"
"No," was my reply. "I'm not letting you go again."
"That'll make quite a lot of things very awkward," Georgina warned, struggling to her feet. She took a lurching step forwards and then collapsed under my weight. "Walking, for example."
"Shaade, get off her," Rebecca commanded.
"Yeah, we haven't had a chance to hug her yet!" Sophie added.
